It's Monday, happy new week! Starting off this week with another variety of Zinnia. Another reason to grow them other than them being so easy to grow, there are so many different types, you can never be bored. 😀 I like this type as it reminds me of Spoon Flowers which are African Daisies and I can't seem to find any longer at the plant centers.
Happy Monday and happy new week! Today's image is of one of my Zinnias. Instead of a peppermint candy look, this one is a yellow variety which I find quite nice as well. Almost looks like paint has been splattered on it.
I have not been seeing many butterflies this summer. I would see one once in a while flying through the yard but not stopping. This Giant Swallowtail finally was one that stayed around a bit and chose to feed from the Zinnias as opposed to the other flowers I have growing. I have always said, if you want a very cheap, that you can grow from seed easily, flower for butterflies, Zinnias are it. There is also a Silver Potted Skipper enjoying them as well.
Happy Monday and happy new week! My Zinnias are finally blooming and drawing in a butterfly or 2. I love this variety which reminds me a lot of a peppermint candy.
It's Friday, TGIF! It was a kind of a crazy week. I'm in the mood for a soothing photo. This is a photo I was able to capture in mid October while the Monarchs were visiting the flowers in my yard. I was able to capture these 3 at one time by and on the Zinnias. I also chose this image for the lovely bubbly bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
It's Friday, TGIF! Today's image is this bubbly bokeh filled image of some of my Zinnias from this past summer. Zinnias are a nice easy flower to grow from seed that are butterfly magnets. I chose this image for today because here on the Blog, Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
It's Friday, TGIF! We are heading back into a very cold time so here is a very summer warm feeling image. I captured this Monarch visiting the Zinnias this past summer. I was lucky to see several Monarchs this past year in a year where larger butterflies were not very plentiful. This photo also works well for today because of the bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
We had quite the snowstorm and cold this past weekend into the week so I need a summery photo as I really miss that. This is a Painted Lady butterfly that I captured on a Zinnia flower back in September.
Happy Monday and happy new week! Starting off the week with this closeup of one of my Zinnia blooms. They are one of my favorite flowers to grow. Very easy from seed even, lot's of variety, very lovely blooms, and butterflies love them.
It's Friday, TGIF! We have been having some cold days and I miss summer very much already and actual winter isn't even here yet. This is an image that makes me feel warm. I captured this Gulf Fritillary visiting the Zinnias on my deck on Halloween which seemed quite late. I thought it had interesting bokeh so sharing today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
Happy Monday and happy new week! November is flying by! Today's image is a surprise one for me. I captured this image just last week. This is a Common Variegated Fritillary that was visiting my hanging on Zinnias. I was glad I had something for it to eat while it was out and about on a warm November day.
Happy Monday and happy new week! Starting off with an image that makes me happy, a butterfly and a Zinnia. This is a Clouded Sulphur butterfly I captured this past week on one of the Zinnias in a pot on the deck.
Happy Monday and happy new week! I am going to start off the week with something that makes me happy, butterflies and flowers. This is a Painted Lady butterfly that I was able to capture recently visiting my Zinnias. Remember when you are planting next spring, Zinnias are great flowers to plant to draw in butterflies. They grow from seed and are fairly low maintenance.
Happy Friday, TGIF! There have not been large butterflies around it seems this summer. I have lots of Skippers and several of these though. This is a Clouded Sulphur that I captured enjoying a Zinnia bloom the other day. It was nicely backlit for me and it also had some lovely bokeh in the image which is why I am sharing it for today. Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
I feel for summertime today since we are cold and snowy and will be getting even colder. I captured this image in July of this past year of a Monarch butterfly on my Zinnia flowers. It's a sight I hope to see again this year. Hopefully many butterflies will come to visit.
Happy Monday! I love the new Zinnia varieties. They used to be just solid colors as far as I remember anyway but lately they have these striped or flecked varieties. They remind me of candies.
It's Friday, TGIF! I am looking forward to summer and hoping for more sights like this. This is a Monarch that was visiting my Zinnias. The lovely bokeh was created by some Marigolds in another spot. Sharing this image today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
It's Friday, TGIF! Even though we had a hard freeze already this year, there are still some butterflies around, mainly Sulphurs and Cabbage Whites. I saw one of these after as well but they have not been seen for a while. I captured this image back in July of a Painted Lady on a Zinnia. Because Friday's Are Bokehlicious, I chose this image for the nice creamy bokeh.
Happy Monday! It's a double digit day today! 😀 Starting off the week with a lovely flower from my garden. This is one of my peppermint striped Zinnias.
It's a double digit day! 😀 It's also Friday, TGIF! Today is also Earth Day! On Earth Day I always like to promote growing plants for bees and butterflies. Zinnias are a great one. They are inexpensive and they can be grown easily from seed. They bloom up until a hard frost and provide color and a food source for butterflies. The image is a Great Spangled Fritillary on my Zinnias from this past summer. This image has some great bubble bokeh and so it's my image for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
