It's Friday, TGIF!  I got a Swamp Milkweed plant last year when I was in KC seeing the KCPC locomotive that was traveling through.  There was a Native Plants Society group there giving away small plants.  Last year it must have just been establishing because it never bloomed.  This year it bloomed and attracted this Great Spangled Fritillary which was wonderful.  I chose this image for today due to the lovely bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's a double digit day today!  😁  Large butterfly visits to my yard were kind of few and far between this year.  I did have a Great Spangled visit a couple of times but this one was seen on a walk early this year enjoying some wild clover.

It's Friday, TGIF!  I was able to see and capture a Great Spangled Fritillary visiting my Cone Flowers/Echinacea.  It was rather tattered looking, wondering if it was damaged in the hail storm.  It didn't seem to hurt it's ability to fly or float as I observed it doing both around the blooms and was able to capture it just after takeoff from this one.  I am sharing this image today due to the lovely bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday, TGIF!  This image was chosen because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!  I am looking forward to summer and seeing butterflies again.  This Great Spangled Fritillary was visiting my Milkweed this past summer.  I have it for the Monarchs but was happy for anyone to enjoy it.  I loved the bubbly bokeh in this image.

I have been able to see a good amount of butterflies at various times this summer.  On this particular day, a Great Spangled Fritillary was visiting my Zinnias.

I haven't shared many butterfly images this summer, mainly because I haven't seen all that many.  I have been treated to a few though and this is one of them that visited my yard earlier this summer.  This is a Great Spangled Fritillary that was enjoying the Cone Flowers in early July.

TGIF, It's Friday!  Today's image is one I was able to get this week of a beautiful Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly that was visiting the Ironweed that is growing beside my back deck.  I was surprised to see 2 little bees in the image as well when I viewed the image larger.  They did not seem to be bothering the butterfly very much at all.  Today's image is shared with you due to the lovely bokeh in it because Friday's Are Bokehlicious as well!

It's a double digit day!  😀  It's also Friday, TGIF!  Today is also Earth Day!  On Earth Day I always like to promote growing plants for bees and butterflies.  Zinnias are a great one.  They are inexpensive and they can be grown easily from seed.  They bloom up until a hard frost and provide color and a food source for butterflies.  The image is a Great Spangled Fritillary on my Zinnias from this past summer.  This image has some great bubble bokeh and so it's my image for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

TGIF!  It's Friday and Friday's Are Bokehlicious!  Today's image with some lovely bokeh is of a butterfly I was quite delighted to see as I have not seen one for a while.  This is a Great Spangled Fritillary on one of my Zinnias.  The Zinnia is a new color for this year and reminds me of a peppermint candy.  I captured this image this past Saturday.

I Captured this image on the evening of the Annual Wildflower Walk out at Konza Prairie.  This Great Spangled Fritillary was visiting the Butterfly Milkweed and stopped for a moment so I could get a photo.

Fridays seem to be about butterflies for me lately.  Today's image is of a Great Spangled Fritillary that came to visit the garden in Late July.  These are fairly large butterflies like Monarchs and I had usually seen them on Bee Balm but this one came to visit the Zinnias.  I will say again, if you want an inexpensive, easy to grow, butterfly magnet, plant Zinnias.  I can almost always find a butterfly on them up until a killing frost.
