It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is Curly-Cup Gumweed. It is in the Asteracaea-Sunflower family and usually blooms June through September and I found this at the very end of September. Many Great Plains tribes used this plant medicinally to treat various things like coughs, colds and stomach aches. The root can grow up to 6 feet making it very drought hardy.
