It's Friday, TGIF! I was lucky before I left for Minnesota to be able to see some Monarchs in my yard enjoying the flowers. I got really lucky to capture 2 of them together enjoying the Butterfly Bush or Buddleia! I am sharing this image today because of the nice bokeh behind them because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

I had transplanted about 3 or 4 Common Milkweed plants a few years ago when there was going to be some major road work and they were going to be wiped out. They have been doing well and spread more each year. I was very pleased to see that a Monarch had found them and produced this caterpillar this year. Hope it survives and continues on it's journey.

It's Friday, TGIF! Today's image is one I lucked out with as I captured a Monarch Butterfly in flight and it was in focus! 😂 I hope to get more butterfly photo chances this year, we shall see how it goes though. I loved the bokeh in this image as well and posting it for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday, TGIF! We are heading back into a very cold time so here is a very summer warm feeling image. I captured this Monarch visiting the Zinnias this past summer. I was lucky to see several Monarchs this past year in a year where larger butterflies were not very plentiful. This photo also works well for today because of the bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's an interesting date day! It's a double digit day but also, the first 2 add up to the 3rd or each are half of the 3rd. 😃 My image for today is one I took in early October at a Nature Center over in Manhattan Kansas. The Asters were blooming quite nicely and attracting all kinds of bees and butterflies including this Monarch.

Happy Monday and happy new week! Today's image combines 2 of my favorite things. I captured this Monarch butterfly on my Cosmos. There were a few Monarchs around last week as they made their way south. It was nice to see them again as there have not been many larger type butterflies around this summer.

It's Friday, TGIF! The Monarchs are coming through my area right now. I saw and photographed one while I was mowing and then saw a couple more in my yard. This is one of them that I captured enjoying my Zinnias. I also chose this image for today due to the great bubbly bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday! Not saying TGIF this week because it's the last day of my week off. 😏 Today's image has some bokeh goodness in it because Friday's Are Bokehlicious. I captured this image last spring of a Monarch butterfly enjoying the Mock Orange blossoms on one of the bushes in my yard.

Happy Leap Year Day! It's a special extra day that should have a special photo it seems. So, I decided to share a Monarch image since it's always a joy to see them due to them being endangered. I had several opportunities this past year and I was even able to capture some with my phone camera which was the case with this one. This past September there was a Monarch visiting the Goldenrod near one of the garages. It was cooperative as I was able to catch a few images of it. I hope to see them around again this year soon.

I feel for summertime today since we are cold and snowy and will be getting even colder. I captured this image in July of this past year of a Monarch butterfly on my Zinnia flowers. It's a sight I hope to see again this year. Hopefully many butterflies will come to visit.

Happy Monday and new week! I thought I would start off the week with a butterfly. This is another image of a Monarch enjoying the Goldenrod in my yard this autumn. I think that most of the butterflies have left for warmer areas but it was nice to see so many Monarchs this year.

Happy Friday, TGIF! To tell you how this week has been, I almost forgot to post this, so TGIF indeed. Today's image is another of the Monarchs that were visiting the Goldenrod in my yard. There were 5 of them around and I was able to capture 3 at one time. The lovely bubbly bokeh in the background made this photo perfect for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious! Not sure how many flowers or butterflies will still be around after tonight as it is supposed to get near freezing. Not ready for that.

It's Friday, TGIF, the last one of September! Around the Equinox every year I seem to have a common sight which I enjoy. Monarchs, as they pass through my area, come and feed on the Goldenrod I have growing in a few spots. I captured this one with a Bumblebee coming in for a taste as well. I chose this image for the lovely subtle bokeh for today as Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Earth Day 2023 Today I would like to make the case for Dandelions. Many people do everything they can to keep them out of their lawns. A few, like me, let nature take it's course. This is the reason why. Monarchs are emerging in our area and looking for food. Flowers are not very plentiful this early in the year but Dandelions are starting to emerge and as seen here, are providing much needed nutrients to emerging butterflies like Monarchs. Keep the bees and butterflies in mind while planting your gardens this year. Try to plant native flowers if you can. Butterflies enjoy Zinnias as well and they are one of the cheapest and easiest flowers to grow and can be grown easily from seed. I captured this Monarch last Sunday on a cool spring day after we finally received some rain and the Dandelions popped out like crazy.

It's Friday, TGIF! I am looking forward to summer and hoping for more sights like this. This is a Monarch that was visiting my Zinnias. The lovely bokeh was created by some Marigolds in another spot. Sharing this image today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday, TGIF! It's also the last day of September as the year moves quickly along. Today's image is a Monarch I captured last week on the Goldenrod in my yard. I have seen a few Monarchs traveling through recently. Keep hoping for a big migration again but no such luck. Anyway, sharing this image due to the bubbly bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
