 I have one more frost image I wanted to share where it really looked a lot like ferns.  I captured this on one of our bitterly cold days on my back storm door while it was still dark out.  The frost was illuminated by the porch light.  I really like the abstract look of these.

 This is another of the interesting frost patterns images that I was able to capture.  As I have mentioned, I really like their fern like patterns.  It also reminds of an abstract painting.  I took this one while it was dark out in the morning and they were lit by the porch light.

 This winter we have had some bitterly cold temperatures, at 0F and below even.  On one of those mornings while it was still dark out as I was getting ready for work, I noticed these crystals on one of the storm doors so had to quick take a few photos.  I just love the fern-like patterns they make as they spread across the glass.  They remind me of an abstract painting as well.

 Today's image is another I captured of the wonderful fern frost that developed on the top of my heated birdbath.  The temps were around zero and there must have been some warmer air coming off the water and it clung to the top edge of the bath and created these lovely formations.  This image is a focus stack of 5 images.

 When it is bitterly cold out, at times our storm doors will have these neat looking ice patterns on them.  This one was very different than usual.  I think it was due to the thawing that occurred during the day and then the re-freezing at night.  The patterns reminded my of little suns with the re-frozen water drop in the middle and then the fern like ice radiating out from that.  There was a bit of photo shopping involved because I overlaid the ice image on an orangy background and then blended the 2 layers.  The color brought out the patterns more and I thought it appropriate due to the "sun" type patterns.

 We have had some really bitter cold temperatures lately, at 0F during the day and below at night.  The birdbath is heated to keep the water liquid and it had some really neat looking fern type frost on some ice around the top edge.  This is some of it.  This is 2 images stacked together for focus.

 Happy Friday, TGIF!  Today's image is another from the frost event we had a short time ago.  My Teasels make for interesting subjects due to how the frost clings to them.  I liked the subtle bubbly bokeh in this image as well.  Sharing it today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

 Happy Monday and happy new week!  We had some hoar frost again last week and it was even more pronounced than the frost in December.  It's rare we get these conditions and now it has happened twice within a month's time.  Makes for great photo opportunities.  This is a branch of maybe my Lilac that looks like it was sugar coated.

 TGIF, it's Friday!!  Today's image is another I took during the day we had some lovely light hoar frost in our area.  The dried Teasels in the yard looked like they had a nice coating of sugar.  Sharing this image today due to the lovely bokeh behind because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

 Today's image is a bit different.  We had below zero temps a few days before Christmas which was rather unusual for my area.  We were -9F actual.  It created some cool looking frost on the storm door windows.  This is an image of some of it.  I liked the feathery appearance of it.

This is a macro image I captured of the hoar frost we had in our area.  It was the day after it was at it's largest and prettiest but in this one area it was still present and lovely.  I liked the bokeh around it as well.  I wish the background had been a bit darker to show it off even better but you take what you can get sometimes.

The next day after the extreme Hoar Frost there was still some smaller examples of it around.  I took a few close up images of it with my actual camera like this one which I thought turned out rather nicely.

It is so weird having to put 20 as the year now.  So far I have remembered though.  This is another image from the morning of the beautiful thick Hoar frost.  This is taken at an area called The Bluffs Park.  There is a pond there that I never knew about till that day as I had never gone to this particular overlook.  I thought it was quite the lovely view.

The day of the frost I just had to take a bit of a break and go out close to where I work a take a couple images.  This is a view of the Smoky Hill river looking east with the trees all covered in Hoar frost.

Today's image is one that shows just how thick the Hoar frost was that day.  This is a part of the chain link fence behind where I work.  I went out and shot a few quick images with my phone.  I am glad I decided to get a Google Pixel which takes very good images since I did not have my actual camera that day.  The phone camera did pretty well in capturing the detail.  I have never seen Hoar Frost so thick, it was pretty amazing.

Merry Christmas Eve!  Happy Tuesday!  Two days after it snowed it was very cold out but we had a foggy morning that created some lovely Hoar Frost. The closer you got to the river, the thicker and more beautiful the Hoar frost was, I have never seen it as big as it was that day.  Unfortunately i did not have my actual camera with me as i would have loved to do some macros, that is one thing phones are not good for yet. This is a tree that was covered in it.  The white dot to the upper left is the moon.

We are seeing the sun today and warming up as well.  How nice.  I can post a shot from a very cold day last week.  Ice crystals had formed on the storm door in interesting patterns.  I thought this capture of some of them reminded of sea creatures.

So the YoYo is on the end of the string today, very cold out with highs only at 30-ish.  Crazy weather.  I thought this image was appropriate.  I found this in the archives while getting some folders ready to backup that I had missed.  This is a frost pattern on the storm door that reminds me a lot of an evergreen tree with a star off to the side.  I maybe should have waited till closer to next Christmas to post.  😉

Happy Winter Solstice!  Today is the first day of winter break so posting earlier than normal.  I took this image a while back and thought it was appropriate for the day.  We have not have cold enough temps this year to take anything similar.  Also, today marks the day it was exactly one year ago that we had a significant snowfall.  If this keeps up I won't be able to take my traditional Christmas card photo.  Anyway, this image is a macro of frost on our storm door.

It was very Brrrrrr COLD this morning, 0F or minus 18C when I was going to work.  Not liking that at all.  Very cold for Kansas.  My image today I was mainly sharing for the lovely bokeh behind it because Fridays are Bokeh days on Google +.  I loved the Hoar Frost tips on this pine and how it still seemed soft even with the frost.  This was taken on a day about 32 degrees warmer too.  :-)
