Today's image is the last tree that I processed with an Black and white and then infrared treatment. This was another tree that was at Hershey Gardens in PA that I thought the effect worked rather well with. I liked how it showed off the twisty trunks a bit better.
Today's image is another that I did of a tree I had seen in Hershey Park Botanical Garden in Pennsylvania. I was inspired by a poster I had seen in an Extension Agent's office. This has an infrared treatment done to it, along with black and white. I really liked how it turned out, hope you enjoy it as well. 😁
I was at a meeting with a Kansas Extension Agent last week and saw this beautiful photograph in her office and was inspired. This is my version of that photo which is actually fairly close to how the tree was captured in the photo. This is a tree from Hershey Gardens in Pennsylvania with a few treatments on it including an infrared one.
It's the first day of November already! Christmas is just around the corner! 😂 Autumn has arrived in my area and the trees are turning color. I got this image the other day on a walk. It's not my best composition ever but I wanted the moon in it and didn't realize it was so centered. I still like it though, hope you do as well.
While out in Pennsylvania, I would go walking with my brother a couple times a day. We are both trying to stay in shape. This is from a lovely park trail in Thornwald Park, we went to and hiked one evening after dinner.
This tree is on my brother and sister-in-law's property and is just gorgeous. It is some kind of Maple, I think, that is red all the time, not just in autumn. I love shooting trees straight up into them for a bit different perspective.
I took this image a while back and never shared it. A friend has a miniature Japanese Maple Tree. I laid on the ground under it and got this image that I quite liked. The photo makes it look rather large I think but it only stands about 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall.
Except for the very hard freeze we had in mid October, we have been having a fairly lovely autumn with temps in the 70s F on several days. Some of the trees have been really lovely as well. This is an image I did with my phone of our very old Oak tree that I quite liked. The trunk on this tree is huge. It was a good year for nut production as well because the ground beneath it is filled with acorns.
I had dug up and transplanted a baby Mimosa (Silk) tree about 4 years ago now I think. The tree grew like crazy last year and this year as well. It got a few flowers on it for the first time as well this year which I am sharing a capture of here. The leaves are folded up for the night as I took this image in the evening as I was watering. I was surprised to see the flowers as other trees of this type had flowered a few weeks ago in our town. Not sure if it was late blooming because it is young. I love the hairy whispy looking flowers these trees have. They are not native to Kansas and can be considered invasive, but I like them and will keep it from spreading.
I was really fascinated by a few of the trees they had at Hershey Gardens when I visited this past summer. I think this is a Japanese Maple. I really like the twisty trunks on them. I have always liked the Junipers out west for the same reason. I'd love to see this tree in autumn.
This is the last of 3 different trees that I saw at Hershey Gardens that were quite different and beautiful to stand under with their sweeping branches. As I mentioned, I wish I had paid more attention to what they were. This one was a bit sad to see because people had carved their initials or names all over the beautiful trunk at some point. Their were signs now but the damage had been done. Fortunately the tree survived it but still sad. I took the photo in a way that didn't show the damage too much.
This was another of the interesting trees at Hershey Gardens. I don't know what type this was but the branches reminded me of rain falling while standing under it. This is actually a combination of 2 photos put together to get more of it in.
While I was in Pennsylvania, I got to go to Hershey Gardens one day. What a great place. There were all kinds of beautiful flowers and a Butterfly House that was quite fun. Photos of those things to come. The Gardens also had some really interesting trees. I loved this one with the twisting and curving trunks.
I stopped while on a bike ride to take some photos of some small-ish trees with these lovely flowers on them. I have no idea what they are, I think they may be a type of Cherry. I just think they are quite pretty.
We had some crazy weather this past week. On Sunday it was in the high 60s but Monday it started dropping. Tuesday we had snow and Wednesday and Thursday, morning freezing temps. My photo for today is someone's beautiful flowering tree that I see while walking, maybe a Crabapple? I took a photo of it on Monday afternoon and then again on Tuesday morning on my way to work. Crazy. It seemed to have survived the weather because it was still lovely red on my way home that day. Anyway, the photos are less than 12 hours apart. It was a beautiful snow actually and one of the larger ones we had all year.
Today's image is the only real autumn color landscape I was able to get this year. With the leaves not turning color very quickly and then the high winds blowing them right off, it hasn't been the most lovely of autumns. This is a Mulberry tree in my yard that turned a deep yellow and was a bit protected from the wind by the Burr Oaks around it which drop their leaves later than most trees. This year they have already half dropped as well. Most likely due to the fact that we have not had any rain for a few weeks now.
