Happy Monday and happy new week!  It's the last Monday of 2024.  Today's image is of something that is always good to see because they are struggling.  These are Honey Bees that were visiting my Autumn Sedum in early September for some nourishment.  The Sedum is always popular with bees and butterflies.  We need to plant more things that these enjoy to help them along.

The Painted Lady butterflies and the Autumn Sedum seem to be a great duo.  When the Sedum blooms, they appear and take advantage of it.  Like everything else, it doesn't last long enough but it's lovely to watch and enjoy while it does.  I was able to capture these 2 enjoying it together.

I unfortunately did not see a lot of Honey bees this year but here is one I captured on my Autumn Sedum.

It's Friday!  I am sharing another butterfly image today.  This is a Painted Lady butterfly that I photographed on my Autumn Sedum this past summer.  There is another butterfly in the back and some more Sedum providing some nice bokeh.  Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

I captured a lot of nature enjoying the Autumn Sedum this year.  This is an image of 2 Honey Bees enjoying the blooms with a Metallic bee on the way in.

The Autumn Sedumn is blooming and attracting the bees and butterflies again.  It is quite the magnet for both.  It was nice to see these Honey Bees enjoying the blooms.  When I looked at this image on computer I saw there was something else flying in to join them as well, possibly another bee.

TGIF!  Fridays Are Bokehlicious and for butterflies!  This one is a very small and, in my opinion, nice looking butterfly.  It has a rather crap name though, a Cotton Square Borer which is actually the larval stage because cotton is what they mostly feed on.  As an adult, they are more know as Gray Hairstreaks.  I captured this one visiting the Autumn Sedum.  In the background is more Sedum providing some lovely bokeh.

I felt like sharing something summery.  I found this image in the archives. I captured this Honey Bee that was enjoying the Autumn Sedum a few years back.  I was surprised I hadn't shared because this is an un-cropped shot, I got pretty close.  😊

Yay, it's Friday!  Fridays are all about the bokeh so this shot of a few of the many Painted Lady Butterflies in my yard is appropriate.  They are really enjoying the Autumn Sedum, that has been one of the best plants for attracting butterflies.  I have also posted a video on Youtube HERE where I captured them flying around the Sedum.  There has to be a good 50 of them at least.  It's really magical to walk by and have them all flutter around.  I'll be sad when they all finally leave.

There has been quite the explosion of Painted Lady butterflies in my garden in the last few days.  I have had a lot of them around this summer in the perennial garden and on the Zinnias but they are here in great numbers now that the Autumn Sedum is blooming.  I can see at least 50 of them at one time and it's quite lovely when I walk past and they all flutter around.  I captured this large group of them just yesterday.

I thought I would break up the bird postings.  I have a lovely butterfly one for today.  The butterfly is a bit battered looking but still beautiful and I loved the bokeh behind, like green bubbles.  I believe this is a Wood Nymph which usually do not visit flowers but just couldn't resist the Autumn Sedum which seems to be quite the butterfly magnet.

Another really cold day and winter is not officially here.  This is from much warmer days when the butterflies were coming to visit.  I captured this shot of a Painted Beauty on the Autumn Sedum with another out of focus in the background creating some lovely bokeh.

With the nice cooler temps we are having I am not seeing many bees around any longer.  The flower pickings are slim too.  This was a few weeks back while the Autumn Sedum was still full of nectar and this Honey Bee was quite enjoying it.  It has since dried to it's lovely dark red color but that isn't what the bees like or can use.

What lovely weather we are having.  I washed my car yesterday.  If that doesn't make it rain or snow, I don't know what will.  :-)  I had a wacky day and needed something lovely to think about so I decided on this image to share.  This is a Clouded Sulphur butterfly on my Autumn Sedum from this past year.  These yellow butterflies are difficult to capture.  They rarely sit still but I got lucky.

Why can't we get rain these days?  UGH  Glad we got the bit we did last week.  It's still so dry out though.  Our last nice warm day for a while it looks like too.  Ah well, glad for what we got.  I was thinking that I did not see a large number of butterflies this year.  Makes me sad.  I am seeing a lot of Skippers this Autumn, they are enjoying my Marigolds.  This is a Painted Lady that was enjoying the Autumn Sedum blooms one afternoon.

Since it is really Autumn now and going to be cold for a bit, lows in the low 40s, I thought I would post an Autumn flower.  This is Autumn Sedum.  The butterflies enjoy it quite a lot on their travels through the area.  This is what the blooms look like in a macro image.  The style of this was inspired by a photographer on G+ whose soft focus flower images I enjoy quite a lot.
