TGIF!  Fridays Are Bokehlicious and for butterflies!  This one is a very small and, in my opinion, nice looking butterfly.  It has a rather crap name though, a Cotton Square Borer which is actually the larval stage because cotton is what they mostly feed on.  As an adult, they are more know as Gray Hairstreaks.  I captured this one visiting the Autumn Sedum.  In the background is more Sedum providing some lovely bokeh.

My Salvia is always rather popular with the bees and butterflies.  This was a Cotton Square Borer enjoying it one afternoon.  They are fairly small and usually in motion but this one posed for me for a bit.  Their name is not very flattering either but I think they are fairly lovely.

Happy Thursday and Groundhog Day!  From the weather forecast it looks like Spring will be here already this weekend, in the 50s.  Today is still winter though.  Made we think warm thoughts and so this butterfly I captured last August fit just right.  This is a Grey Hairstreak also known as a Cotton Square Borer when young that I was able to photograph in the garden.  They are tiny little things, only about an inch across when viewed like this.  They can be very skittish and hard to get close to but sometimes I get lucky.

More rain today.  I am wondering how wet winter will be.  Are we getting all our moisture now or will we have lots of snow too.  Could be interesting.  My image today I captured this past Sunday.  My Sedum is beginning to bloom and is proving to be a magnet for bees and butterflies again which is great.  It's nice to see butterflies around finally.  I captured these two at once, a Cotton Square Borer which is pretty tiny and a Painted Lady enjoying the blooms.  I love the colorful bokeh created by some out of focus flowers.

I am hoping for rain this weekend, it is so dry and our chances keep getting pushed back and percentages dropping so nt holding much hope for it.  So I was able to capture my first butterfly this past weekend.  This little Cotton Square Borer was enjoying the Salvia that is blooming right now.  It paused long enough for a few photos and I liked this one the best.
