A Photo a Day Blog with Guides to Wildflowers and Butterflies in Kansas
Today's image goes back to earlier this year and my visit to the Baker Wetlands in Lawrence. This is a Redwing Blackbird that was posing quite nicely for me.
I thought our Red-winged blackbirds had all gone south but I found a flock of them 2 weeks ago, but none since.
I haven't seen several summer birds for a while so I think they have left the area.
Nice shot, Shelly. Not sure I've seen one of these birds before. Or, if I have, I didn't realize it.
Thanks Tom! They have distinctive calls too.
