I was playing around this weekend with some photos and I came up with this and was pleased with how it turned out.  A composite image of a rose and frozen bubble.

This image was another favorite I was able to capture while shooting frozen soap bubble images.  This one produced the fern like crystals that I find quite pretty.  For those new to the Blog that would like to see one freeze, i have a YouTube video that I made.  Here  and also here .  You can see the difference in how fast it freezes when it is very cold out in the short video to when it is a bit warmer out in the second.

Note: the videos will open in a new window.

As I write this on Monday it is cold enough today, all day to try and get some more of these images.  I will have to do in the garage though as the wind is too high.  I love when the bubbles produce the fern like crystals but these type are typically what I get.  They are beautiful in their own way though and always different.

As I mentioned, the weekend temps were very cold.  Never got out of the 20s F.  Saturday night I went out and shot some frozen bubble images.  I had tried various times during the day but there was too much breeze to get them to form.  This was the first one I shot and I loved the formation that grew.  This is on the back of the bubble so I also liked the bokeh that was produced in the foreground.  No it's not Friday but bokeh is good any day!  😁

This is another in my Frozen Bubble Series and another that I did in afternoon sunlight in the Spruce tree.  I really liked how these came out.  The  light was great but it was windy and difficult to get them to form without breaking even with the tree shielding the direct wind.  I thought the few I was able to get were lovely and the snow in the tree created some great bokeh too.

It was so cold, here in Kansas yesterday that I could still freeze bubbles.  It was a pain because it was also somewhat windy but I was able to manage a few.  This is one that I shot in my snowy Spruce tree.

This winter has been long and cold and the only thing that has made it a bit more bearable has been the ability to shoot some different type images like snowflakes and these.  This is another in my Frozen Soap Bubble series.  This one is a bit different as I shot this one outside in my backyard.  When shooting these bubbles, there has to be no wind because they are very fragile and will break before the crystals can form.  I shot this after dark when the wind had died down on the icy rocks of my waterfall for my pond.  I used an LED flashlight for the illumination.  It blew as a double by accident but I am glad I decided to still photograph it as I liked how the crystals formed in it, made for interesting patterns.

We are having winter weather again today, not as bad as predicted but you never know how it will go.  This image today is from last week after we had a Thunder and Lightning storm with sleet.  I froze a bubble in some sleet that's why is looks like it is sitting on little balls.  I'm posting a bit early today as well because I took some vacation time today.

We have been very cold this winter on a number of days.  I hate the cold weather but it has provided an opportunity to take artistic images.  This is another in my Frozen Soap Bubble series that turned out rather well I thought.

This is another in my frozen soap bubble series.  They are lovely on their own but I wanted to be a little creative with it and have some added interest.  This one turned out as kind of a double bubble but I loved the patterns in both.

Here is a link to a YouTube video that I made that shows how I do it.  This first one forms very quickly, it was done in very cold temperatures:
Freezing A Bubble Very Cold

This link shows one I did in a bit warmer temps and the crystals take longer to form:
Freezing a Bubble Warmer

It was almost too windy in this second video.  Wind of any kind will cause the bubble to pop before the crystals form.

We got a show day today so posting a bit early.  😂  This past Saturday along with the snow I was able to go out and try some frozen bubble images.  I used a different lighting set up and I was really pleased with the results that I got.  This is one that is fairly early on in it's growth stages but I chose this image because I liked the shapes and after viewing it big I thought the color on the top crystal was interesting too.

This is another of this year's Frozen Bubble attempts.  It is way too warm now to try again.  Guess we shall see what the winter has in store if I will be able to try again.

It has been bitterly cold for us the last couple of days.  I hate the cold but decided to make the most of it and try to do a frozen bubble image.  I like the results mostly, it turned out better than I thought it was going to due to my shutter speed and some movement in the bubble.  I am not sure I like how the flower reflected in the bubble.  I didn't notice that at the time as I had to shoot fairly quickly.  I did like the overall result though with the color it added.

Well, I had one more image in my Frozen Bubble Series that I had processed but not shred yet and since it can't decide yet if it's Spring or not, it was pretty cold out this morning, I thought I'd share it.  I gave this one a purple tint in Photoshop but the rest was all just the photograph.  The day I took these, things worked really well, the light, the crystals, etc.

Winter is on the way back this weekend it looks like.  I thought I would share another in my Frozen Bubble Series.  This is one of the first ones I ever did.  I loved the fern-like effects.  I think the ferns form when it is not quite as cold as some of the days I was trying to do this.  I shot this at night and used a flashlight.

It's supposed to be Spring but it does not look like that at the moment where I am.  It's not cold enough to do these which I am glad for but I am kind of looking forward to being able to do these next winter, I have some ideas.  In the meantime this is Golden Bubble, another in my Frozen Bubble Series.

Here is another in my Frozen Bubble series.  This one is from a set where I thought that due to the light, the bubbles seem to resemble planets from a sci fi show.  I love the fern-like crystals at the bottom.  It's now too warm to do any more of these.  I hope to try some experiments next winter as I have some ideas that might make for neat images.

Here is another in my Frozen Bubble Series.  We have warmed up too much to do them this winter and that's actually fine, I am anxious for spring.  I can play with the images I have taken already.  This one is Purple Jewels.
I also added another video that shows a bubble freezing at a slower rate in warmer conditions.  It can be found Here.

Here is another in my Freezing Bubble Fun series.  I shot this one last Sunday when we had some snow on the ground and the wind was cooperating.  I don't get the fern type crystals lately and not sure if it is the mix of soap or the temperatures.  I do like these crystals, some are sort of like snowflakes.  Here is a link to a Youtube video I made on one of them freezing:  Freezing Bubble Video

Well we made it to February and winter is back for a while.  I'm sharing an image today of the only reason I have enjoyed winter this year, frozen bubbles.  This one I named *Crystal Bubble*, I'm so imaginative, huh.  😉  Anyway, I have shared this one at my Fine Art America site and received a Feature for a week in a Macro Group so I was pretty proud  of that.
