Happy Friday, TGIF! Today's image is a close up image of one of my orange Cosmos flowers. They have a different shape to them than the pink and white ones but they are all Cosmos. This image has some very nice bokeh in it which also makes me happy and is great for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious here on the Blog!
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is one of my favorites, Butterfly Milkweed. It blooms June through August but is mostly done already in my area. It can be found in varying colors of orange, from very light to an almost red. It is in the Dogbane family and is very attractive to butterflies, hence the name.
Happy Monday and happy new week. Today's image is of a flower that is native to Kansas but I seem to have issues with it wanting to come back. This is Coreopsis. I have planted in a different area this year and am hoping it will thrive and come back next year. I shall see.
Happy Monday and new week! It was a busy, short, weekend for me so I want to start off the week with something that makes me happy. This is my Cosmos. I tried a new variety this year. It has a bit thicker leaves and lovely orange flowers. I have been pretty happy with it. Surviving the drought better than the wispy leaved kind.
Happy Monday and happy new week! My Cosmos are blooming and looking quite lovely. This is the second year I have grown them and it has proved to be a good one. I tried another variety of them this year as well and they are just starting to bloom. The flower reminds me of a Coreopsis but the foliage is much more lacy. This is a group of them in my garden by the road.
It's Friday, TGIF! I had to share this photo today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious and this had some great bubbly bokeh in it. I took this image against the leaves on the oak tree and it created the great bokeh. This is my orange variety of Gerbera Daisy.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is Trumpet Vine which blooms from June through August. It spreads like crazy and gets in areas I wish it would not and keep having to remove. I would have thought twice about planting if I realized that. It does hide things well which is why I planted it. Hummingbirds love the flowers and I usually can capture them at it but so far have not been successful this year.
It's Wildflower Wednesday once again on the Blog! Today's flower occurs in the wild in Kansas but this one is actually in my yard. I was given a Nipple Cactus last June and planted it in what must be an optimum location because it flowered very well this year. The cactus is only about 3 inches across at most and each flower is only about an inch and a half wide.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! I have some beauties coming up in the next few weeks. This is one that I like a lot and grow, or try to grow, in my gardens. This is Coreopsis, also known as Tickseed, which are in the Asteracea Family. They are drought hardy and native in my area. I have difficulty getting them to return. I'll see how my newest plant does this year. I captured these lovely ones out on a walk near my home.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's image is another of one of my favorites but rarely seen for me because I can never seem to get the timing right. These are Nipple Cactus blooms. Nipple Cactus are fairly small, only about 2 to 3 inches across at most.
It's Wildflower Wednesday! We have had quite the cold snap and today was supposed to be a warmer one, a balmy 20 degrees. I am writing this on Sunday so we shall see. Anyway, I needed a warm photo and this older image of some Nipple Cactus flowers did the trick. These are found out on Konza Prairie. I have only timed it right twice. Hope to see them flower again sometime. The flowers are fairly small, the cactus are only about 2 inches diameter at most.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! This is one of my favorites. I have tried to grow it several times and it will do well during the year but it never comes back. I must not have found the right spot for it yet. This is Blanket Flower or Gaillardia. This group was still blooming fairly late in the summer when I shot this.
