Happy Monday and happy new week!  Starting off the week with a nice bright flower that I am growing this year.  This is a variety of Blanket Flower or Giardia.  The usual ones are orange in color.  This is another I will be interested to see if it comes back next year.

It's Friday, TGIF! I am trying to grow Blanket Flower once again in a different location.  If it does not work again, I am giving up.  I can never get them to come back the next year even though they are a perennial.  Anyway, I find them quite lovely and photogenic.  This image had some lovely bokeh in it so sharing for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog!  Today's flower is one of my favorites but I can never seem to get it to come back the next year in my gardens.  It's weird as I find it growing wild so it has to be returning and not freshly planted.  This is Indian Blanket Flower which usually blooms May through September.  It is also known as Gaillardia. The Kiowa Indians believed it brought good luck and it is the state wildflower of Oklahoma.  It gets it's name from the fact that it usually grows in large groups and looks like a blanket of color.

Happy Monday!  Today's image is another trio of flowers I captured this past summer.  This time they are my Gaillardia or Blanket Flowers which can be a wildflower here in Kansas.  I am hoping that these survive the winter and return but we shall see.  So far I have not had much luck with them returning.  I enjoyed them very much though during the year and they bloomed right up till frost.  The middle one is what they look like just as they begin to open.

I am trying another Gaillardia plant this year.  It's a bit different variety, the petals are an interesting shape which my photo shows off.  It sure seems to like it's spot as it has grown and flowered a lot this year.  I hope it over winters better than the ones I have had before that never came back the next year even though they are perrenial in this area.  This is actually a 3 image focus stack.

I love Gaillardia, also known as Blanket, flowers.  They always do well for me during the current year but never seem to return.  I am trying once again in a new spot.  I will see what happens this spring.  I love the look of the blooms of this one, a little different than others I have had.  Maybe this will be the one to return.  They grow wild in Kansas as well.

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! This is one of my favorites.  I have tried to grow it several times and it will do well during the year but it never comes back.  I must not have found the right spot for it yet.  This is Blanket Flower or Gaillardia.  This group was still blooming fairly late in the summer when I shot this.

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog once again.  Since I mentioned them this week, my flower for today is the Gaillardia or Blanket flower.  These are just about ending their bloom here in Kansas in my area.  I have seen a couple recently.  I wish I could get them to grow in my garden since they are native to Kansas but they never come back in the spring.  Now sure what i am doing wrong so I guess I will just have to enjoy them in the wild. These were a more orange variety but some have the yellow and orange together like the flowers on Monday.

I hope you check out my Wildflowers by Colors pages here on the Blog to help you ID wildflowers you may be seeing.  A lot of the ones there can be found in other areas and not just Kansas.
