 Today's image is of an interesting fungus I was able to capture on a branch in a pile of cut branches.  I found it quite interesting looking with the texture but have no idea what type it is.  In searching with Google Lens it looks like it may be Hexagonal-pored polypore.  These are a fan shaped bracket fungus normally found on dead wood so that pretty much describes it.  Google is wonderful sometimes.  😁

 It's March already!  The year is moving along quite quickly so looking forward to real spring.  We have been having much warmer weather but there is still the chance for snow at some point.  I was looking through my photos for another image and found this one that I had never shared.  These are some very small mushrooms that I found growing in the yard one morning.  I liked the ridged or frilled caps on them and I believe these are called Inky Cap Mushrooms.

 I have never seen fungus/fungi or mushrooms like this before.  They were growing between the bark of this log.  It's rare to see red ones for me as well and when I do they are usually very small.  I thought these were neat so had to share.  😀

 When I was in Minnesota there was a tree near where I was working with the large scale train that had quite an impressive fungus on it.  I took this image with my phone of it.  It was fairly large and there were several groups of these.  I had never seen one so large and yellow like this before.

This is another image of the interesting fungus I saw growing on a tree out on Konza Prairie in early October.  We had just had a significant rain.  A friend helped me ID it.  We think it is Gilled Polypore (trametes betulina) .  I like the frills it has on the underside.

It's Friday and Fridays are Bokehlicious!  I have never really thought about a mushroom photo as being that beautiful but I really liked how this one turned out.  I captured this on a hike at Konza Prairie in early October.  I am not sure what kind this is but it has neat frills on the bottom and was a bit ruffly.  The bokeh really set it off in my opinion.

Having a Palindrome weekend as well.  😃  Sharing a macro shot of some mushrooms by my pond one day a while back.  I was surprised we didn't have a lot more of them as wet as it had been.  This is actually a phone image that came out rather well.

With the good amount of rain we got the other day, it made the mushrooms quite happy and they are popping up everywhere.  I captured these in my backyard and thought they reminded me of a family, dad mom and kid.  I titled this one Shroom Family Outing.  😀

Sharing some tiny little mushrooms I captured a while back.  If they were an inch tall, that was a lot.  All they needed was a tiny toad.

This is a group of mushrooms I captured in the backyard after a significant rain last summer.  Not sure if we will see these this year with the little amounts of rain we are getting.  These types of mushrooms start out in the shape of balls and flatten out as they age so these were captured about mid-life. They can get fairly large too, about 6 inches or more across.

Posting late today doing steamy stuff on a very chilly day.  This was taken on a nice warm day in August after a rain.  A large group of these large 'shrooms popped up in the backyard.

So we have been having a bit of rain and some cool-ish mornings so it has, apparently, been the type of weather that Fungi likes.  We had an explosion of mushrooms in the backyard in an area they seem to like.  I liked this shot for the bokeh that the line of them created.  Not sure what type they are but they are fairly common in this area as I saw them popped up in several yards.

Well, looks like with our warm weather we get wind too, typical.  I was looking through older images this morning and found this mushroom that I had shot back in August.  We were having some nice rainy weather this summer that produced some great mushrooms that were fairly large as well.  I thought this one lent itself well to a monochrome treatment.

Posting a bit late today as I was busy and then my computer did not want to wake up.  Guess it was lazy.  Anyway, this is a cool fungus I saw out in PA.  Actually the hubster spotted it first.  It was really this bright yellow looking, I did not do anything to it.  It was clinging to a broken branch of a tree lying on the ground.

Going to be a beautiful day today!  I just hope it's not winter in March.  This is an image I got earlier this year when we were having a good amount of rain.  Mushrooms were popping up all over in people's yards.  I had some but not as nice as this pair.  Some of the ones I saw were huge like these two.  They had to be at least 5 inches across each at least.  I decided to process them in a sepia tone and liked the result.

Going to have another nice November day it looks like.  I shot this photo at a friend's home a couple weekends ago.  This shelf fungus was growing on the side of a tree stump and was quite large, 6 to 8 inches across where it attached to the stump.  When viewed at this angle, I thought it looked like a mouth that was hungry and feeding on some leaves.  :-)

Well, it's really going to feel like Fall today with highs only in the 60s.  I took this last year at this time after a hike in the woods near where I live.  I found it on the path back to the car.  It was quite small, maybe one and 1/2 inches long and I thought the spiky texture was interesting.  I am trying to get an ID but will have to see.

A beautiful day here in Kansas.  Cool and clear.  This is from several weeks back when I was at the railroad I help at outside of Topeka.  This type of mushroom seems to grow in this same spot every year, I photographed some last year as well.  They look like the type out of a fairy tale.  They are quite tiny as you can possibly tell by the moss on the right hand side, maybe 1/4 inch across the cap.  There was quite the large group of them this year, I guess the weather was just right for them.

A chilly one this morning eh.  :-)  This is from early this summer after some rains.  These odd little mushrooms were growing in the wooded area behind the house.  All I could think of was there is a fungus among us!  LOL  Not sure what they are.  Hoping for an ID from a guy on G+ who knows his fungus.  They were cool looking though.

A lovely cool morning and weekend ahead.  Nice!  The weather lately has been very good for these types of mushrooms to grow and others as well.  I see these popping up all over in people's lawns and such.  They are fairly large too, this one was at least 8 inches tall if not larger.  I decided to process it in monochrome with a copper tint and thought it brought out the textures well.
