Happy Monday and happy new week!  I am starting off the week with a butterfly image.  Well, technically a Skipper image.  This one is supposed to be quite common in Kansas but I have not seen it, or at least, have not captured it until this year where I saw it fairly often.  This is a Common Checkered Skipper that I captured on a Marigold in late October, more specifically,  just about 2 weeks ago.

It's Friday, TGIF!  Today's image is a little Sulphur Skipper that was on my Butterfly Bush or Buddleja this past summer.  There were lots of these guys around but not many larger butterflies.  I thought the bokeh in this image was rather interesting so chose this for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday TGIF!  My Cone Flower/Echinacea has been blooming and attracting various nature.  I captured this Skipper enjoying the blooms one late afternoon.  I chose this photo for today due to the bubbly bokeh because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

It's Friday, TGIF!  Friday's Are Bokehlicious and I have a photo to share with my favorite bokeh, the bubbly kind, for today.  This is a Silver Spot Skipper on my Butterfly Bush or Buddleja this past summer.

TGIF!  We made it to another Friday!  My Butterfly Bush was very popular this year with the butterflies.  I was able to capture this Clouded Sulphur on my new pink variety of it earlier this year.  It has a little Skipper companion with it as well.  The bit of bubbly bokeh meant I had to post it today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

Well, we missed out on some rain chances but fortunately not in the 100s for a bit.  90s are bad enough.  I captured this Skipper, which is a Hesperiidae but commonly thought of as a butterfly, on the Zinnias this past week.

A hot one again today.  Now rain chances for the foreseeable future.  Will be interesting to see what we get.  I got this image earlier this year.  I have seen a good number of these guys around and also Silver Spotted ones but not much in the way of an actual butterfly.  This is an Uncus Skipper that was enjoying the Salvia earlier this year.

I saw my first butterfly in the area on Saturday.  I was unable to capture a photo but was happy to see one around.  This is an image of a couple of Skippers on a Zinnia bloom from a couple summers ago.  Skippers seem very social because I was looking back through some photos while organizing them over on Google + and a lot of my images of them had 2 of them on a flower.  I think they are cute little guys with their big eyes.

Kind of a cloudy day though the morning started out clear.  Decided to share something bright and calming due to the wacky, busy day I had.  This is a couple of Skipper butterflies that visited the Marigolds this past Autumn.  These were about the only thing blooming at the time and they almost always had some type of butterfly or Skipper on them.

Well, Minnesota is not much cooler than Kansas right now.  Not ideal for doing steam related activities but at least it's not raining yet.  I had a nice day doing some large scale steam activities so hopefully will have a photo to share on Sunday of that.  In the mean time here is a photo from last summer of a little Skipper butterfly on a Marigold flower.

Ah, it finally cooled down at night and during the day a bit.  Nice!  This is an older image I got, I think it was last fall.  The Marigolds I had planted were finally in bloom and this Skipper came to visit and let me get pretty close with my macro lens.  Sometimes they sit still very well and other times, very flighty.  LOL

This is just something from warmer days that I wanted to share today.  This little Skipper was partaking of some Wild Garlic blooms.  I just read recently that Skippers make up 1/3 of the Butterfly population.  We certainly have a lot of them in Kansas. Sometimes they are around a lot more than butterflies.

Not many butterflies in the garden this year.  Most of them seemed to come late in the year.  This image was taken in October so was even into Autumn.  This little Skipper was feeding on the Zinnia flowers that were still blooming.

This is a photo I got just recently of a Bumble Bee and a little Skipper sharing a meal on a bloom of Woolly Verbena.
