It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is one that has been in bloom recently, I took this photo last week with my phone. This is a Maximillian Sunflower. They usually bloom August and September. They can grow to 9 feet tall! It's a nutritious flower for livestock. It was named for Prince Maximillian Alexander Philip Von Wied-Neuweid, a German botanist who discovered it while traveling in North America in the 1800s.
Nice densely flowering sunflower. 9' tall is quite tall!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen one that tall yet but yes! :-)
