12/21/22

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the blog!  Today's flower is Blue Wild Indigo.  It is in the Bean Family and blooms in May and June.  It produces seed pods that when mature will rattle in the wind.  It can be found growing in rocky soils and along road sides.  It is most prevalent in clay soils and limestone areas.  I have some growing in a couple of my gardens but for this particular photo, I found this on a road side.  It's another flower named as "blue" but I have observed it to be more purple than blue.
