A sure sign of spring is when these birds arrive. This is a Dickcissel that I captured on a bike ride a while back. It was very cooperative and sat in some great light with a nice background and rather close. They get their name because their call sounds like dic - dic - sisss.
Looks a little like a meadow lark, but maybe more subdued
ReplyDeleteThey do look similar and at a distance you really have to look. Meadowlarks are more elongated I have found is a good way to tell apart, slimmer.
DeleteCheering on as you walk past.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed. LOL Thanks!
DeleteAwesome capture, Shelly.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tom!
