In early June we were having pretty significant storms about once a week. This is the sky between a couple where we had about 5 inches of rain total. It was a crazy evening but made for a beautiful sky.

As I have been mentioning, we have had quite a lot of rain lately. We went 3 months with basically nothing and now, we are getting it all. When we went to play trains a few weekends ago, we were running in between storms. These are some retreating clouds that I really liked how the setting sun was illuminating. The cloud just to the right of the windmill was especially cool with it's light outline.

We had quite the storm roll through our area on Monday into Tuesday. It had very high winds and lots of rain with it, we received right at 3 inches. It caused a lot of tree damage in town, we lucked out with only one major limb down from a Sycamore tree. Fortunately the old Oak didn't receive any more major damage than it had gotten in the last storm. This is what the sky looked like to the east in the aftermath, still some Mammatus clouds.

Thursday night we had a very small storm cell moving into the area. As usual, we did not get much rain out of it but it did produce a quite lovely sunset sky.

We have had some storms in the area recently. Most of them missed us but we finally got a decent amount of rain Sunday night into Monday. This was the sky one evening during that week. Fortunately it was just ominous looking and not bad with these Mammatus clouds.

A little over a week ago I was on my way home and there was a storm moving into the area. It made for some beautiful light and clouds so I had to stop and get a photo. Fortunately, all we got out of it was some rain and not too much although it poured like crazy for a few minutes.

On This past Monday we had storms move through the area. We lucked out with just some heavy rains and a little very small hail but in other areas of the state, there were tornados. In the evening I went outside and saw that the sky was looking rather ominous but cool. The sky to the south, in this photo, had all these Mammatus clouds and then to the west had a very cool painted effect.

The trees have been pretty lovely this autumn, much to my surprise. It's been so dry several trees have dropped most of their leaves already. The ones that have been left are putting on a nice show. On a day while walking about 2 weeks ago now, we actually got a little bit of rain. The late afternoon light on the trees against the rain clouds was making the colors really stand out.

It's been two weeks ago now since the big storm. This was just before I finally got home after waiting out the rain at the restaurant to ride my bike home. It was also before I knew what damage the storm had brought to my yard which we are still cleaning up. It could have been worse, my home was not damaged like many were in town. It was even difficult to get home on a bike due to flooding and downed trees.

This image is from Friday June 28 and looks deceptively lovely. It is an image of the end of one of worst storms we have ever had in my immediate area. We had looked at the radar and there was a very small rain cell visible so we decided to ride our bikes to dinner and then by the time we finished eating it would be out of the area. We were very wrong. We were stuck at the restaurant for 2 hours. The storm grew in size and sat over my town and dumped 6.9 inches of rain at my house and collapsed a building in town and caused A LOT of tree damage among other damage. They have decided it was straight line winds of at least 80MPH. We are still cleaning up limb damage on our property.

A little over a week ago, while out on a bike ride, there were some clouds to the west that were capturing the light in neat ways. There was some rain from them as well though by the time they got to our area that had stopped. We did get some rain that evening though which we needed badly. We still need a lot more as the ground is very dry and cracked still and the plants are still struggling. I am worried about my Lilacs, they are not looking very good.
