 I have a lot of older bird pictures still cued up to share but I was rather proud of this one that I got a few days ago.  I was sitting on my deck watching a couple Hummingbirds visit the feeder.  This one as it was coming in one time, stopped right in front of me and hovered for a bit and I was able to get off a couple of shots and this one was the better of them.  I think it was wondering what I was doing and checking me out.  😁

 It's Friday, TGIF!  I was sitting on the porch this past weekend and a couple of Hummingbirds were visiting the feeder.  I was able to capture this image of one of them hovering before it went in to get some food.  Because Friday's Are Bokehlicious, I am sharing this image for the wonderful bokeh created by the distant leaves.

 While I was in Chama New Mexico one evening I was able to get a few of the best Hummingbird photos I have been able to get in a long time.  This Hummingbird came flying in and landed on a branch very close to where I was walking and allowed me to get several images of it.

 Happy Friday!  TGIF!  One evening last week I was able to capture a Hummingbird enjoying the flowers on my deck.  A lot of my shots were of it's back but I was able to get this image of it from the side at my Lantana flowers.  Because Friday's Are Bokehlicious, the lovely bokeh is created by the tree in the distance.

 I captured this Hummingbird at a friend's house a few weeks ago.  I prefer more natural settings for my bird shots but I really liked the light in this one and also the pose of the Hummer as it was just landing on the feeder.

 The Hummingbirds have returned this spring.  This is a Ruby Throated male that I have been able to capture taking a drink at the feeder.

 This summer was a good time for Hummingbird photos.  This is another of the female Ruby Throat after she turned around on the branch she was sitting on to face me.  I was only about 8 to 10 feet away sitting in a crook of a tree trunk with some branches between us and sitting very still so guessing she did not see me.  It was a wonderful close up experience.

 I have been given some neat opportunities for photographing Hummingbirds this year.  I let some wild Sunflowers grow in my garden and this female Ruby Throat took advantage of them one evening to sit and rest in between feeding and I was able to capture her through the door window.

 9/11 Anniversary, Never Forget.

It's Friday and Friday's Are Bokehlicious!  Today's bokeh filled image is one I was able to capture last weekend outside Topeka, Kansas at the railroad I get to play at.  We were having a very small get together to celebrate the owner's birthday.  On a break I went to take some photos and I had no more sat in the crook of a tree than about 8 feet away from me this Hummingbird came and sat on this branch.  It stayed there for quite some time and allowed me to get a number of shots.  I liked this one because for some reason it was sticking it's tongue out like it was tasting the air.  This is a female Ruby Throated Hummingbird.

I have a couple of Hummingbirds that come to feed at the feeder every day.  I was lucky one day recently to capture it feeding at the Trumpet Vine in a more natural setting.

I have seen one or two Hummingbirds around my feeder off and on.  I have kept it full for them in case they were around but they seem rather scarce.  This weekend I was able to see a couple, both at the feeder and at the Trumpet vine where I captured this one.  I was happy to get it in focus as they were not staying in one spot for long and fighting over the blooms.

This image is actually a manipulation.  It's a composite of 2 images that I took and put together.  I put the Hummingbird together with the Hibiscus flower and thought it worked rather well.

Well summer is finishing off hot.  I know I don't want winter to come but I am tired of the heat.  The Hummingbirds have been visiting and stocking up for their trip south.  I captured this Ruby Throated one seeming to look at me while taking it's photo recently.

Sunny day today and hopefully we are on a warming trend now.  I captured this image this past summer.  The Hummingbirds were feeding from the Baltimore Oriole feeder.  I guess that was OK since the Orioles would eat from their feeder every now and then too.

I captured this image last Spring out at the railroad I volunteer at outside Topeka.  These Iris were open on the shore of the pond there and I spotted a Hummingbird feeding on them.  I was lucky and was able to capture several good shots of it before it finished and flew off.

I'm sharing another bird today because of the Bird Poker game of Vegetarians and I got this image on Sunday morning.  It isn't the clearest because I shot it through a screen so it has a bit of canvas texture due to the screen.  I am not sure what type it is either with it's all white breast.  It was very cute though.  It would go to the feeder and eat and then come sit on this branch for a while.

Happy June!  It's officially summer in my book.  :-)  A beautiful day today and looks like our rain may be finished.  Hopefully not for the rest of the summer though.  My image today is a companion to the one from May 23.  I was able to capture this Hummingbird coming in the feed on an Iris.  I was really happy with this image that I got it all in focus!  :-)

Well, here starts our week with chances for rain all week which is weird for here.  Today is our best chance it looks like.  I captured this image on Saturday at the railroad I was helping run at.  I was taking a break by the pond with my camera hoping to capture some dragonflies by these yellow Iris growing at the water's edge.  Imagine my surprise when, what I thought was a large dragonfly out of the corner of my eye, turned out to be a Hummingbird enjoying the Iris blooms.

I found this older image of a Hummingbird enjoying some Trumpet Vine flowers.  A friend of mine had been mentioning having this vine because they enjoyed it and I had forgotten I had a photo of it.  They blend in very well with the leaves for camouflage so it was difficult to make it stand out to see it.  Well, back in the heat again just as my green beans were starting to produce nicely.  Ah well.  It is still summer.

With rain early this morning and the hot temps it's like a sauna out there today.  Yuck.  Looks like we will be this way till about Wednesday.  I've had this shot for a while now and never shared it.  The theme of Bird Poker over on Google Plus today was Hummingbirds so I thought I would play my hand.  I'd rather that this was with a flower and not a feeder but I got the Hummer nice and clear so there you go.  :-)
