Happy Monday! Today starts the countdown to Christmas! Hope you are not feeling too much pressure these days. That is the downside to Christmas. As I get older I wish it didn't involve presents and was just a time to get together. Anyway, we are in a cold snap and I am wishing for summer and butterflies. Here is an image that warms me up. This is a Tiger Swallowtail on Wooly Verbena that I took back in July.

We made it to Friday and Friday's Are Bokehlicious! Friday's are for butterflies as well a lot of the time like today. I have been lucky to see a lot of larger type butterflies this summer like this Giant Swallowtail, the largest butterfly in our state. This one was enjoying the blooms of some Woolly Verbena, a Kansas wildflower, on my land last week and I was lucky enough to capture it in flight a couple of times. I loved the bokeh that the grass behind made for the image.

For those of you in Kansas or surrounding states as well, don't forget I have several pages of wildflowers that are fairly common and even a few rarer ones separated out by color. Hopefully these will make it easier for you to identify a flower you may see. I recently added this one, Wooly Verbena to the Purple page. It is blooming now and I got this shot about a week or so ago of it.

So the leaves are starting to change and fall but we are heading into a couple of very hot summer days with highs in the 90s. Part of the change could be due to that we need rain badly. This is the longest time without this year. My tank I use to water with is about empty. Anyway, my image for today is from my garden in the late afternoon this summer. A Sunflower and Wooly Verbena combination that were nicely back lit.
