It's Friday, TGIF!  Today's image is one I was very happy to get.  We have had a Bluebird visiting the yard this Spring and I was finally able to capture it.  It has been fairly cooperative and sits in a tree for a while so that was great.  Because it has some lovely subtle bubbly bokeh behind it, I am sharing it for today because Fridays Are Bokehlicious!

Today's image is of a bird I don't get to see very often, they are very elusive around here it seems.  I was weeding in an area of my yard and looked up and saw it in the Sycamore tree and was able to get a few captures from a distance and then was able to move closer and get more such as this one.  This is a Bluebird.  They are quite lovely but not bird feeder visitors so it's nice to get a glimpse of them.

The Bluebirds have been around a bit more than usual trying to get a drink.  Lately the stupid Starlings have been emptying the bird bath.  I got this image the day of the snow of a lovely couple having a drink.

I rarely get to see this bird in my yard but was very pleasantly surprised by a visit of a few a couple Sundays ago.  They were bathing and drinking in the stream of the waterfall to my backyard pond.  I captured this Bluebird getting a drink.  I had to share an image of it with great bokeh behind because Fridays Are Bokehlicious!

We are finally warming up and feeling like spring here.  Nice.  This was from a bitter cold day not long ago. I rarely get Bluebirds but I had a couple who were using the River Birch tree for a place of rest.  They did not look happy about the cold and I couldn't blame them as it was windy as well making it worse.

I captured this image this past winter at the in-law's birdbath during a snow.  I liked this image because it clearly shows the difference between a male and female Bluebird.  The male is much more vibrant blue while the female is a lot duller to help her blend in more while nesting.

We are heading back into winter so I thought this image was appropriate.  I captured this in December at the in-laws home during a snowfall.  A few Bluebirds and a couple Finches enjoying a drink.  I liked the Bluebird flying in on the left.

Posting early again today because I have another day off due to the cold.  It is cold too, went out just for a moment to feed the birds and that was quite chilling.  I got this image over the break at my in-laws home though, I don't get Bluebirds at my house much.  It was snowing a bit and this big group of them came to have a drink.  It was very neat to see so many at one time.  I love how they have to stretch their necks out to drink.  Looks like they are singing.

I captured this image over the Christmas break when I was in Missouri for a few days.  There was a bit of a snowfall one day and I captured this Bluebird sitting in the Ornamental Pear tree just off the deck.

We are in our cold snap now.  Highs only around 10F, minus 12 C if we are lucky and probably not even that high.  I was in Missouri for a few days at Christmas and got lots of photos of birds.  My in-laws have a great viewing area with an upper deck and a nice Ornamental Pear tree for them to perch in.  I captured this Bluebird which was one of several to visit the bird bath for a drink.  It stretches it's head way up to swallow and made for a nice pose.

I captured this bird a little while back in my backyard.  He was moving around quite quickly but I finally captured it on my railroad crossing sign that I see needs restoration badly again.  Anyway I believe it is a very young Bluebird.

So looks like we will be in the 60s this week.  Very nice but that is not normal.  This is an image I got during the Ice Event.  I rarely have Blue Birds in my yard but when I do they come for the Bird Bath.  This is one I was able to capture, enjoying a drink from it.  The birds rarely bathe in it, they do like to drink from it though.

I was able to get this shot a little while back on a walk.  I very rarely even see Bluebirds let aloe be able to capture them.  They usually are too far away or don't sit still.  This one sat for a few photos and wasn't a mile away so here it is.

I saw this Bluebird last Thursday while I was out trying to get some prairie fire photos.  The fire photos were a bust but I was able to get this guy looking at me with a rather cute expression so that made the trip worthwhile.
