 I captured this cutie while it sat for a second in the Mulberry tree.  This is a Black Cap Chickadee who is another bird that never sits very still.  They are constantly moving in the branches down to the seed and back again.  I got lucky when I was ready when it sat for a moment in-between this movement.

 This winter while feeding the birds I have had lots of different ones visiting.  One of my favorites is this one, a Black-capped Chickadee.  I love their call and when I walk by they seem to either be telling me to not bother them while they are eating or to bring them more food.  😄  I captured this one sitting in the Mulberry tree while it was snowing on New Year's Day.

This is a Black Cap Chickadee I was able to capture recently.  They usually don't sit very long but I was able to time this one right and capture it on the trunk of the Mulberry tree.  This image had some pretty good bokeh as well and bokeh is good any day!

Today's image moves from autumn into full winter.  Last weekend we had a good snow, 6 inches at least at my house, some areas had more.  The birds were out in full force at the feeders.  I titled this image Sharing for obvious reasons.  This Carolina Wren and Black capped Chickadee seemed to have no issue with eating from the peanut feeder together.  It was quite cute.  By the way, the snow background created the absence of bokeh in contrast to yesterday's image.

Well, after having a T-shirt day yesterday we are back to winter today and bitterly cold tonight.  Totally unhappy, this is too late in the spring for temps that cold.  Anyway, my image today is the last one I played for hosting the Bird Poker theme which was great fun to see all the neat images people had.  Today I wanted birds with bokeh so I am sharing this Black Cap Chickadee that I captured in Missouri at the in-laws home.  They rarely sit still but I got lucky with this guy.

I was able to get this image earlier this year during what was supposed to be our big ice event but turned out to be mostly rain.  This Chickadee sat long enough for a photo.  It was nice as they are usually constantly moving so getting them to pose can be difficult.  It was perched in the River Birch and this is shot through a couple of panes of glass so I am pleased with the clarity.

I captured this Blackcap Chickadee during what was supposed to be our big Ice Storm last weekend but fortunately turned out to be mostly rain.  I liked how this came out very well, shot through a door window and how it also captured a few streaks of falling ice.  You can see a bit of ice buildup on the branch it is perched on.

I captured this image on the first day of this month, my how time flies, I thought I took it just last weekend.  It's rare when a Black Cap Chickadee sits still and even rarer when it does it in a spot where I can get a shot and extremely rare when it's fairly close.  I got really lucky with this image.  The ISO on my camera was set pretty high so it's kind of grainy in the tree area but it allowed me to get this shot on a very cloudy morning.

So this week's theme for Bird Poker is "Side View".  I have a lot of shots I could play for that but I won't do birds all week, just a couple days.  LOL  My first for today is of a Black Capped Chickadee sitting on a Sunflower head in between eating seeds from it.  I was pleased to get a decent shot as they are almost constantly in motion.

Well, glad we did not get the severe weather they were predicting for yesterday where I live.  Got some small hail but that was it.  My image for today is of a Black Capped Chickadee I captured enjoying the Sunflowers I had planted in front of the deck.  Now that they have bloomed and are drying out the birds are getting the benefit of them.  I liked the way it was looking when I snapped the shot.  Not sure if it could see me or not as I was inside the house.

Wow, somehow I missed posting on Monday.  Oops.  Ironic too for those who know the significance of that day.  I was busy that day but my bad.  :-)

Anyway, I wanted to post this image I was able to capture of a  Black Capped Chickadee that sat still in my in-law's Ornamental Pear tree long enough for a photograph.  I thought the blooms made it look framed rather lovely.

I was able to capture this thirsty Black Cap Chickadee at the bird bath one hot day this summer.  It sat drinking for a bit so I was able to photograph it.  Have gotten lucky with these birds a few times this year.  Usually they never sit very still.

These birds are very difficult to capture for me, they are always moving and rarely sit still for long.  I got lucky that it was eating seed from this spent Sunflower.  A Black Capped Chickadee, the Kansas State bird.

Chickadees are quite difficult for me to photograph.  They are always moving around and never sitting in one place for long.  Even when they do sit in one place they sill constantly move.  This Black-cap actually cooperated and sat still for a few seconds and even looked my way.  Very nice of it.  :-)  It was sitting on the support for my Mandevilla Vine in front of some Sunflowers.

It's cold and blustery out so thought this photo was fitting.  On a cold and blustery day this past winter I finally was able to capture a fairly decent image of a Black Capped Chickadee.  Usually they are flitting about so much and never sit still that you can't capture them well.  On this day, he or she was hunkered down against the wind that you can see ruffling it's feathers a bit and I was able to get a shot in a natural setting for once and not on a bird feeder or pole.
