I took this image a while back as well.  There is a theme on G+ called Tree Tuesday that I thought of while taking this one.  I love the trunks of old Bristle Cone Pine Trees.  They are quite colorful and interesting with the twists in them.

Well, it's the first day of March and more normal weather now so is this "in like a lion or lamb"?  :-)  Anyway, my image today goes back to my trip to Mount Evans in Colorado and the Bristle-cone Pine Forest located there.  These cool, very old trees have such neat twisting shapes with lines of color in them.  They are quite beautiful and interesting to photograph.  They are very determined as well because they only grow at very high altitudes, almost at the tree line on mountainsides.

Well, we are back to winter now.  Knew those warmer temps couldn't last.  This is from this past summer on Mount Evans in the Bristle-cone Pine Forest in Colorado.  They grow at a high elevation so the view is quite lovely across the mountain range.  The clouds added to the view as well. I love the shapes of these Bristle-cone Pines.  They seem to twist and turn as they grow.

Heading home from vacation today.  This is another of the Bristle-cone pines in Colorado on Mount Evans.  I processed this one with a more moody and dramatic feel and I think it brought out the tree trunk shape more.

Posting during lunch today because I will be quite busy after work and don't want to forget.  :-)  This is another view of the Bristle-cone forest on Mount Evans in Colorado.  This view shows the contrast between dead and alive and the color of these sometimes very twisted old trunks.  It also shows the area they grow in which is the highest elevation that can support them and then after it's just scrub plants and alpine wild flowers.  A very interesting and beautiful place.

This is another view from The Bristle-cone Pine Forest on Mount Evans in Colorado.  I liked this one because the shape of the one on the right reminded me of a type of alien standing and talking.  I'm weird like that.  :-)  It's a beautiful place to visit with the interesting trees.

This is a view of part of the Bristle-cone forest on Mount Evans.  I thought the fact that this section had so much dead trees in it that it reminded me of Mordor in Lord of the Rings.  Yes, I am a bit of a geek.  :-)   I processed it in B&W yo give it a more eerie feel.

I actually have a title for this one, Buddies Enjoying the View.  When I saw these 2 trees at the Bristle-cone area on Mount Evans it looked like 2 people with their arms towards and kind of around each other just looking out at the landscape.   You can see the type of area these trees grow in this photo as well, at the tree line about 12 to 13,000 feet up the mountain which is a 14,000 footer as they say in Colorado.  It also showed off their colors rather well too.

Another Bristle-cone Pine from Mount Evans.  In death these ancient trees really show off their beautiful structures and colors in their trunks.  Love the browns and oranges in the almost silver trunk.

I visited a Bristle-cone Pine Forest on Mount Evans in Colorado.  Bristle-cones are beautiful trees.  Even when they are past their life they are still beautiful.  This particular tree reminded me of antlers.
