It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is one that blooms for quite a while in my area, Wild Alfalfa. It usually blooms May to July but I saw some still blooming in August this year. Wild Alfalfa resembles it's domestic relative but has smaller leaves and is very drought tolerant with roots that can go as deep as 10 feet. This particular image is from last year and I never shared it.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! This flower has been very prolific in my area this year. It is Wild Alfalfa. It is a native legume and is very drought hardy as it's roots can grow to 10 feet deep. It resembles Alfalfa but livestock do not particularly like it unless it is cured in prairie hay.
It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is one I usually see mostly in the spring and early summer but I saw some this year in October! This is Wild Alfalfa and it's normal bloom time is May through July. It is another drought resistant plant and it's roots can go down as much as 10 feet to find moisture. The height of the plant can be from 1 to 4 feet. The roots have been used in early days to make a tea to treat head aches.
I love butterflies and I could share a photo every day of them but wouldn't want to bore you so I just go with one a week. 😀 This is a Clouded Sulphur on Alfalfa that I liked the blank background of. I actually can't remember where I shot this to get that background but I like it a lot. Looking at some other photos I took around it, it was on a walk and it must be the sidewalk blurred quite a bit.
