It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! This flower is considered invasive in my area but I find it around occasionally. This is Musk Thistle and it provides an interesting subject to photograph I think. They are considered invasive because they spread quite rapidly and are hard to eradicate. Even after digging them out of the ground they can still produce seed. When they bloom, from May to August, they have a pink puff head.

It's time for Wildflower Wednesday! Today's flower is Tall Thistle or Roadside Thistle. They bloom in August and September and can be quite tall, over 6 feet. They also attract butterflies and are native to Kansas. Their flower color is often referred to a purple but I think they can be rather pink as well especially as the flower matures.

When it rains it pours. They always say, be careful what you wish for. I like the rain and it ha not been bad where we are but I am missing the sun, not seeing it too much since I have been home. I was shooting Thistles in bloom a couple weeks back and this Bumblebee came in and photo-bombed me. There were other flowers around and I was actually holding the stem of this one to get it in the right position under the lens but it didn't care and just landed right there and kind of startled me but I got some good shots after I recovered. I think it was high on pollen as covered as it was.
