It's a double digit day! I feel like seeing a butterfly today. Spring is finally here and hopefully the weather will warm up and they will start appearing again. This is a type of Checkerspot and the coloring seems like one not very common here, a Harris but could be a darker Silvery. I caught this one on the Aster flowers in my garden late last summer.

I captured this Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly enjoying my Cone Flowers one day this summer. This was before there were all kinds of small black caterpillars on them and my Sunflowers which ate all the leaves. The Cone Flowers are making a bit of a comeback fortunately. The Sunflowers died.

My mini Allium flowers in the Garden Railway were blooming recently and providing bugs and butterflies some nourishment. Here is a Silvery Checkerspot enjoying one and a bug bonus. Plus, because Fridays Are Bokehlicious, some nice creamy grass bokeh for the background.

Happy Friday the 13th! It's usually a good day for me, I shall see how it ends. 😉 Seems Fridays have been for butterflies but I have had great opportunities for butterfly images this year. I think I have enough shots I could post one every day but that may bore you. This one is a Silvery Checkerspot that I captured in July on the Butterfly Milkweed. It sat quite well for a macro shot of it. I also realized this was a positive ID on a new one so I have updated the Butterfly Page as well.
