Happy Monday, and new week and also new month, it's July and the second half of the year! 😁 I have been able to see these butterflies more often this year. Right now they have been around and feasting on all the Mulberries that have dropped to the ground from the tree. This is a Question Mark butterfly, the mark can only be seen when the wings are closed. I captured this one resting on a rock between feedings.

It's Friday, TGIF! Happy 1st day of September too! Yikes the year is moving along! Hope it cools down a bit and we get some rain. Today's image is a Question Mark Butterfly that was very well posed to show the difference in the inside and outside of it's wings and also the mark on it's wing where it get's it's name from. Due to the bubbly bokeh I chose this image for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!
It's June! The year is flying by it seems. I have seen butterflies off and on this spring which has been nice. This is a Question Mark butterfly that I captured high up on an Oak tree one afternoon in my yard. They get their name due to mark on the underside of their wing which looks a lot like a question mark.
Not many butterflies are left, if any now that we have had some really cold mornings. There may be a few Sulphurs around still, they seem pretty hardy. This is one I saw just a couple of weeks ago. This is a Question Mark butterfly. I was surprised to see it out and about as they are usually pretty elusive. This one even let me photograph it with my phone which is where this photo comes from. It's cropped in a bit but not much as it actually let me get fairly close.
In the spring for the last few years I have been able to spot and capture a Question Mark Butterfly. I was sitting in the Gazebo one afternoon and it came to sit on one of the Redbud tree leaves. I liked how the wings were backlit.
TGIF Today's image is of the same butterfly that I posted last week. This image shows why it got it's name Question Mark. If you click on the image and look at it larger you can see a light colored mark in about the middle of it's bottom wing and it looks like a sideways question mark. I also shared this picture today because I love the bokeh in the background, especially the bubbly bokeh in the upper middle and Friday's Are Bokehlicious here on the Blog!
TGIF! It's Friday and Friday's Are Bokehlicious! This is a Question Mark butterfly sitting on some rocks with it's wing spread very nicely last summer by my gazebo pond. The other rocks in the image are providing some lovely bokeh for it. These butterflies are around but are not often seen as they usually like shady spots and don't feed on flowers but prefer fruit, especially rotting fruit.
This was another neat visitor I had recently and kind of a lucky shot. This is an Eastern Question Mark butterfly and they normally are seen in the shadows more than in sunlight. They don't feed on flowers like a lot of other butterflies but prefer tree sap and rotting fruit. I was able to capture it on a rock at my large pond and I liked the shadow it was casting. I also liked the bokeh behind with a couple spots of bubble bokeh. The perfect shot for today because Fridays Are Bokehlicious!
I originally thought this was a Comma butterfly but due to the dark banding at the bottom of the wings, I believe it is a Question Mark instead.
