11/20/20

It's Friday, TGIF, and a triple number day, 11/20/2020.  😀  Friday's are also Bokehlicious and today's image has some lovely bokeh.  This is a switch of an earlier image I posted of these two butterflies on a Snakeroot plant by my large pond late this summer.  In the foreground this time is a Pearl Crescent and in the rear is a Painted Lady.

TGIF!  I have some Wild Snakeroot growing by the large pond and last weekend before the cold snap I had some butterflies visiting.  This is a Painted Lady with a Pearl Crescent providing some bokeh.  The cedar trunks in the background provided some other lovely bokeh and I chose this image for today because Friday's Are Bokehlicious!  Since the end of September I have not seen many butterflies around at all.  I guess they got outta here when the cold front came through then.

The smaller butterflies are around now more than they were all summer.  I captured a Pearl Crescent and a Painted Lady enjoying the Cone Flowers a few days ago.  The area behind them provided some nice bubbly bokeh and it's Friday and Fridays Are Bokehlicious!

It's been great to see the butterflies around again.  I saw 5 Monarchs today while on a bike ride near here.  This is the second butterfly I was able to capture this year.  Unfortunately it wouldn't land on a flower so I had to capture it on the ground.  This is a Pearl Crescent.  They are quite small, only about 1 1/2 inches across on the wings but rather lovely.

I couldn't go the week without a butterfly image.  I captured these 2 Pearl Crescents on some Hairy Asters out on Konza Prairie a couple Saturdays ago.  It was lovely to see a number of butterflies around out there that day enjoying the last of the wildflowers.

Well, we did get a bit of rain this week.  I could use some more for my pond but it has cooled off as well so that helps.  I could probably post a butterfly or a Sunflower photo every day for the rest of the year, I was able to capture a lot but I won't, don't want to bore you.  However today I have a photo with both.  The sunflowers were popular with butterflies this year.  This is a Pearl Crescent enjoying a bloom.  Remember I also have a page on the Blog with butterflies that show a lot of times with closed wing and open wing photos to help ID.
