 This is another bird I was able to capture in Minnesota, the same evening as the Loon but in a different pond.  It went by me quite quickly in the water as I walked by and then cooperated for a bit while I snapped photos of it.  This is a female Hooded Merganser, I had to ask for an ID, I didn't know what it was when I saw it.  It had some young ones with it which I saw as I was walking away and probably why it was cooperative, keeping my attention from them, but the picture was pretty crap since it was so dark out.

I was able to capture this image in Pennsylvania over the Thanksgiving week.  This was the second time I had ever seen a Hooded Merganser duck and both times were there.  I captured it as it took off when it decided I was too close.  I liked the out of focus, unfortunately, splash it left behind but I was trying to get the bird in focus so that was good.

We are back to warm weather again after a day of very autumn temps.  My Zinnias were still good and the butterflies were back so all is well.  This is an image I took on a day like yesterday this past spring in Pennsylvania on the Conodoguinet Creek.  It was the first time I had ever seen a Hooded Merganser duck in real life.  It was not real happy about having me around and trying to take a photo so it took off and I was, fortunately, able to capture it somewhat in focus.

Some nice and much needed rain we are getting.  Hopefully it all doesn't come at once and then stop.  Last week I was in Pennsylvania and one day walking down by the Conodoguinet Creek by my dad's house where I almost always see some type of wildlife.  I was treated to something new this time and made me wish for a bigger lens because they were not very close when I was able to capture them.  This is a female and male Hooded Mergansers that were floating on the creek.  They had actually been closer at one point but I was not expecting anything to be right there and scared them off.
