Another bird that I find hard to catch is today's image.  Downy Woodpeckers always seem to be on the move and rarely sit still so I have to be very fast to catch one.  I got lucky one day when it was moving around the Mulberry tree on it's way to the birdseed below.

It's the last day of January.  Today's image is one I was able to capture very recently of a bird I can rarely catch.  This is a Downy Woodpecker that I see fairly often but it is usually on the suet and if it is in the tree is usually in a spot where I can't get it.  It was sitting on the trunk of the Mulberry tree for a few moments so I was able to get a few images of it.

This is a fun little bird to watch in the tree.  They move around very quickly and seem to peek around the branches.  This is a Downy Woodpecker I captured in the winter outside my window in the Mulberry tree.

We are still enjoying Spring like temps.  Unfortunately the flowers are thinking it's Spring already as well.  I have some Daffodils and Tulips starting to peek through.  Sigh.  My image today is of a Downy Woodpecker couple.  The male is the one with the red splash and the female is out of focus.  I captured these two in Missouri but they are very common in Kansas as well.

This is a Downy Woodpecker that I was able to capture on a seed head of Flannel Mullein that I saw on a walk back in August and haven't thought to share until now.
