Today's image is of one of my favorite birds, and is also the Kansas State Bird, the Western Meadowlark. I was able to get an image of it fairly close for once. Usually they are a good distance away and on the move, they rarely seem to sit still and are very skittish. They over winter in my area but in some places migrate south.

Wish I would see them around here. We are just within their breeding range. I seem to remember seeing one or two when I lived in Toronto and would venture into the countryside (that is now all houses!)
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be more prominent here than they were for a few years so they may make it into your area too.
