It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog. Today's flower is Dotted Gayfeather. It usually blooms in August and September and I found this almost exactly 2 months ago in mid September. it is part of the Sunflower family. In it's early stages of growth it is very palatable for livestock, especially sheep. It has a taproot that can grow to 15 feet deep, making it very drought resistant.
