11/17/24

It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  This is an image from the Santa Run late in October at the C & H Railroad.  The semaphore works and is a neat fixture at the railroad.  There are a lot of actual pieces of railroad equipment or buildings in use there which makes for a more realistic experience.  You can see the semaphore operating in the video I had posted HERE.

  1. Are the rails "full" size but juet for the proper gauge? Or is there a source for scaled rails?

  2. Deleted previous comment due to an error, it is by yard not foot. There are many sizes of rail, it is done by pound in a yard. This is 16 pound rail which was used a lot in mining operations. It's more substantial than what is needed for this size so it's very nice to run on. We have 12 pound rail at our house which is fine and still heavy to work with. Commercial railroad rail can be up to 155 lbs for high speed rail but are generally in the 90 to 100 lb range.

  3. INteresting never knew that. But then I have never been in the market for rails😊 Although I do have a 6" section that my father got from some place. I use it as an anvil
