It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  This is an image from the Santa Run late in October at the C & H Railroad.  The semaphore works and is a neat fixture at the railroad.  There are a lot of actual pieces of railroad equipment or buildings in use there which makes for a more realistic experience.  You can see the semaphore operating in the video I had posted HERE.

It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  During the memorial run at the C & H Railroad one of the former engineers was out for the event and got locomotive Number 5 steamed up.  He and I were taking some artsy images of it and this is one of them.  Number 5 is a highly modified Ottaway locomotive and is the first locomotive that was run on the railroad.  It was nice to see it operating again.

It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  Today's image is from last Saturday at the railroad I help out at outside Topeka Kansas.  It was a lovely autumn day and the weather was pretty good and Santa came and visited with the kids which they enjoyed very much.  This is an image of one of the steam trains as it was crossing the bridge as it left with it's passengers.  I also have a short video of this run HERE if you would like to watch.

It's a double digit day!  😁 It's also Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  Today's image is our locomotive at the water tower at the C&H Railroad.  We were there playing on a nice day last November and I took this image.  It is a bit staged as there was no water in the tower at the time.

It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  I am looking forward to warmer weather and being able to run steam locomotives again.  This is our friend's locomotive as the boiler was being blown down to empty out the water and any scale that may have developed.  It is an Ottaway locomotive that was built in Wichita, KS in 1948 and restored by our friends here at the C & H Railroad.  This locomotive is what our blue locomotive would look like if it had not been converted to an 1800s looking type with the cab and smokestack and domes.

Happy New Year!  It's a double digit day!  😁  It's also the first Steamy Sunday of the year!  I thought I would start off the year with a photo of our locomotive which was 9 years in restoration.  It was quite rusty from lack of use for many years and also worn from hard use back in the day.  It was built in 1947 by the Ottaway Amusement Company in Wichita Kansas.  This is an image taken from some drone footage I shot when we took it to the C & H Railroad where we volunteer at for it's first runs on an actual track set up instead of just some footage in the yard.  It performed very well.  We named our locomotive after our favorite photographer, William Henry Jackson, WHJ for short.  He was on the original Yellowstone survey and he has also photographed Colorado extensively including many steam trains.  You can see my YouTube video of the locomotive at the C & H here.

This is another lovely autumn image from the large scale railroad I get to play at outside of Topeka.  This is looking at the main station and the trees behind had some lovely color too them.

Autumn has come to Kansas but it won't be as beautiful as last year.  Some trees were stressed due to the weird large rains and then intense heat and now the wind is blowing like crazy.  Some more secluded areas have some beauty like this one at the large scale railroad that I get to play at.
