 It's a double digit day!  😀  It's also Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  Today's image goes back to Minnesota and the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Reunion.  This is locomotive 353 sitting outside the roundhouse on a day before the show started up.  I took this when I was at the roundhouse for the safety meeting.

    Question> Why is the "cow catcher" seemingly relatively high above the track. It looks like maybe 12" or so. I thought they were lower to catch small stuff

    1. I don't think it's quite that high, maybe a bit of an optical illusion. I looked at other locomotives and they all sit at about that height, they were sort of more for larger things like cows which is how they got the nickname. They are technically called "pilots".
