It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog!  The Overland Park Arboretum has a very neat Garden Railway display with several high trestles and old time KC displays.  I captured their steam Tank engine as it passed over one of the bridges in front of one of the 2 large waterfalls.  A tank engine carries it's water over the boiler in the tank and has a bunker for coal on the back and so usually does not have or need a tender.

  1. I assume the range of the tank engine is somewhat restricted with out a separate car to carry the coal.
Looks like a rail neat set-up and large garden/arboretum

  2. Yes, the range of a tank engine is fairly small in comparison to a similar one with a tender. It's a wonderful Arboretum. Lots to see.

  3. Very cool. Garden railways are a lot of fun to watch. A neighor of mine has a small one in his yard I've seen run a few times.

    1. I need to weed mine to get it up and running. Not enough time in the day. Hope to go to KC this weekend to visit some on their Garden Rwy Tour. Hopefully it will inspire me to get weeding.
