It's Steamy Sunday here on the Blog.  Today's image goes back to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.  This is locomotive 6765 Mountain type built in 1930 and retired in 1957 and was one that could scoop water into the tender on the fly.  I felt like a B&W treatment for this image today.  Steam locomotives make great B&W subjects I think.

  1. Looks quite large and imposing. Could maybe use a paint job to make it look spiffy?
Where do the scoops come out to collect the water (I assume out of a tray beside, or inside the track)?

    1. Yes, paint would certainly help. The museum is currently raising money to expand the facility to have much more indoor space to house all the items they have outside deteriorating. The scoops dropped down and caught water from the middle of the track.
