It's another Steamy Sunday! It's also another image from the neat National Museum of Transportation in the suburb of Kirkwood Missouri just outside of St. Louis. This is Chicago & Illinois Midland Railroad 551. This locomotive is a Mikado type wheel arrangement, a 2-8-2 and was built by Lima locomotive Works in 1928. It was used to haul coal to Commonwealth Edison power plants. The locomotive it is sitting next to is a somewhat interesting diesel locomotive called the Silver Charger, a streamlined one similar to the more famous Silver Zephyr.
