Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Spring is only days away now.  This is a flower that would be seen in summer though.  This is called Butterfly Weed which is a variation of Milkweed.  I have this orange variety in my garden but there are also a more muted orange and then a redish variety.  Butterflies like this plant.  It's supposedly very resistant to anything eating it but something ate mine almost to the ground this past year.  It flowers a long time if not eaten.  This particular flower was photographed out on Konza Prairie.
