Oops, crazy day yesterday and I forgot to post.  This is a companion piece to my Roundhouse photo from last week.  These are the Water and Coaling towers at the Greenfield Village of the Henry Ford Museum complex off to the other end of the turntable.  This is a great place to visit if you are ever in or around Dearborn Michigan.

When our train got back to Durango after our ride, we went over to the museum and we were able to watch our locomotive being put on the turntable to move it into the Roundhouse.  As you can see, it just fits so the engineer has to be pretty good to get it stopped at the right spot to balance correctly so the table will turn.  It was a great end to a steamy day to watch this operation.

I was in Rollag, Minnesota last weekend, the land of steam for Labor Day weekend and the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Show.  On Sunday morning as I was heading to breakfast they were just moving the locomotive I get to help fire on out of the roundhouse and on the turntable to move it to the mainline to start taking passengers around the grounds.  The sunlight and cool morning made the steam billowing out of the cylinders show up nicely.  The locomotive is an ex Soo Line switch engine and is 97 years old this year.
