 It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog!  The Yuccas are in bloom right now and are quite healthy looking with all the rain we have received lately.  I captured these blooms in a close up, I had never really paid much attention to the details of them before, just the plant in general.  Yuccas generally bloom in May and June and are part of the Asparagus family.  Their roots can grow quite long horizontally.  When soaked or rubbed in water the roots can be used as a soap substitute and the plant is often known as "Soapweed".

 It's another Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog!  It has been a good year for Yucca, it has bloomed and looked lovely in several places.  Yucca is in the Asparagus family and if you look at an un-bloomed stalk you can definitely see the resemblance.  Yucca roots can extend horizontally 30 feet!  If you soak the roots in water and then rub them, they create a lather that you can use like a soap which is why it is also known as "Soapweed".  It flowers in May and June.
