It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's image is of one that is a bit hard to capture as it's blooms don't seem to last long. This is a Prairie Wild Rose. They usually bloom May through July. the plant is very resistant to drought due to it's roots that can go as deep as 20 feet. It's hips are a good source of vitamin C and can be eaten raw.

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog! Today's flower is one that is pretty much done blooming in my area now. This was an almost perfect bloom of a Prairie Wild Rose that I found in June. This Rose is very drought hardy but they have not had to worry about that up until this point this year. We have regained all our lacking water and then some. When it rains it pours as they say. Anyway, these usually bloom May through July. The Rose hips have a lot of vitamin C and can be eaten raw.

Happy Valentine's Day if you celebrate! Happy Wildflower Wednesday! Today's wildflower is one that could be associated with the day. This is a Prairie Wild Rose bloom that I captured last summer. These bloom May through July. It is resistant to drought due to it's roots being able to extend to 20 feet down into the ground. The flowers will darken and get more pink as they age.
