 While I was in Colorado this past summer I was camping by a Prairie Dog town where I was able to observe them one evening.  I find them adorable but I am sure people that have them digging in their yard do not.  There are 6 of them in this image.  They were on alert, probably because I was around so several were keeping watch while others were foraging around.

 We stayed in Strasburg Colorado, a town that has quite the railroad history.  It also had some great opportunities for wildlife photos I discovered while out for a walk one evening trying to photograph the train station.  There was a fairly large group of prairie dogs living in a field near where I was photographing the station.  I was able to get this image of several of them.  I find them very cute though I am thankful they are not in my area as I don't think I would enjoy them in my yard.  😂😅

I saw these guys again while in Minnesota, there is a town of Prairie Dogs right next door to some relatives.  I wish I could have gotten closer to them, they were adorable.  I call them the 3 Amigos.  😁  They need to be viewed large by clicking on the image to really appreciate.

We are getting rain!  I may be getting enough to fill up my pond, I am very excited.  Anyway, today's photo.  While I was in Minnesota I was at the home of some relatives who have a small Prairie Dog town that I discovered in a pasture while trying to capture an image of a Pheasant.  They didn't know the town was there because it is behind the treeline of their property.  This little one posed very nicely for me, so cute.  Not sure the farmer thinks they are cute.

I shot this image while in the Badlands of South Dakota.  This cute little guy was snacking on a wildflower it had picked nearby.  I think Prairie Dogs are quite adorable.

It's the last day of September.  The year is going quickly.  I took the image I am sharing today last year during my vacation to the Badlands of South Dakota.  There was a large Prairie Dog area and they were quite fun to watch.  These two were greeting each other and were so sweet.

A beautiful day here in Kansas and then downhill from here into the heat again.  This was taken on our trip to South Dakota.  When we were in the Badlands we were able to see a variety of wildlife like the Bighorn Sheep I already shared.  These guys are on a different scale and there were several colonies we saw of them throughout the park.  These are Prairie Dogs and were just so much fun to watch giving their warning barks and popping up out of their tunnels or playing together like these 3.  They get a bad rep by ranchers but studies have shown they actually benefit the land they are colonized in by keeping it aerated and so the soil stays more fertile and the grass grows better.  Plus they are so cute, how can you resist those faces.  :-)
