 Happy Monday and happy new week!  It is also Memorial Day today in the US.  I decided to share this photo of my Poppy which is appropriate to the day.  The red poppy became a symbol of remembrance during WWI for military personnel who died in service.  Vibrant Poppies bloomed across the devastated battlefields of Flanders, Belgium where many soldiers were buried.  Thanks to all soldiers for their service.

 It's Friday, TGIF!  It's also a double digit day!  😀  I had purchased a new Poppy this year so I was taking some photos of it including this one.  I love the texture of Poppies, very wrinkly, I think it is compared with crumpled paper.  The stems are quite hairy as well.  Sharing this photo today because I thought the bokeh was rather interesting and Friday's Are Bokehlicious!

 I planted these Poppies about 3 years ago now I think and every year it produces more flowers.  This year it produced 4 blooms so I was quite happy.  I love Poppies, the crinkly quality of the petals. I loved the light on these.

 It's Memorial Day, a day we set aside here in the US to remember those we have lost.  I don't really think we need a special day as they are remembered always.  This is a Poppy from my garden that has been blooming this past weekend.  I love the crinkly paper texture of the petals of these flowers.

Today is Memorial Day.  I thought this image was appropriate for today as these flowers are used on Remembrance Day in England for WWI veterans.  My Poppy is in bloom right now.  I love the details of their centers.  Hope you all have a good day as you remember those who have passed.

I am always wishing for rain but I could do without for a while.  Started off the day with a flood in the basement due to a clogged gutter from Elm Tree seeds and leaves from the storm the day before.  I think we have had about 5 inches in the last few days.  Feast or famine it seems.
Anyway, my photo for the day is of a beautiful Poppy.  I love Poppies and have tried another variety to see how it does here in Kansas.  It bloomed the other day and I was able to capture a photo of it.

Something bright for today on a bitterly cold day.  This is a macro image of a Poppy from New Mexico at the Chama Station.  I am trying to grow some Poppies in my garden.  It will be interesting to see what happens with them this year.

Posting a bit late today.  I photographed these Poppies this morning and thought them appropriate for the day.  Today is Memorial Day and the Poppy has been a symbol of remembrance, especially for WWI.  I wish my Poppies would bloom like this but we have no Spring and they don't like the heat.

So the Groundhog saw his shadow and 6 more weeks of winter.  I didn't need the Groundhog to tell me that.  I felt like a summer shot so here are some lovely Poppies I shot in Silverton Colorado shortly after I got off the train and was headed to take photos of the trains just outside of town.  I am hoping the Poppies I planted last year survive this winter and bloom.  I love Poppies, they have a lot of character in a photo.
