2/3/18

We are going to have a nice day today and then winter is back with possible snow for a bit.  This is from a very warm summer day in July as I was headed down to Arizona from Utah through Monument Valley.  It was a clear but hazy day due to the fires to the west and south I believe.  I had to do a lot of work in a couple of photo programs to bring out the background here but I liked the result with the framing of the rocks in the foreground.

This is a 4 shot panorama that I shot from the Arizona side of Monument Valley.  It's quite an interesting, desolate and beautiful place with the rock formations.  You can see the famous Mitten formation.  As always, view larger by clicking on the image.

7/8/17

So this past week I was away on vacation to Colorado and Arizona.  This view is actually taken from Utah, another state I was able to tic off as having been in.  A lot of movies have been filmed in this area and I could see why.  It was fairly desolate and beautiful.  The rock formations make it very iconic looking.  This is a 3 shot panorama.  I used a polarizer filter as well and was glad I had it along as the sky on the whole trip was rather hazy, most likely due to the fires in southern Arizona.  This image is best viewed large by clicking on it.
