I heard this Phoebe outside a few days ago. I quickly went to get my camera thinking it would probably leave by the time I got back but it was still there and I was able to snap off one shot before it flew off. They get their name from their call.

I have one of these birds nesting on the back porch. I find it kind of a silly place for it to have chosen as it will be disturbed fairly often when we go out onto the porch for various reasons but whatever. This is an Eastern Phoebe. Their name comes from their familiar "phoebe" vocalizations but they do make sharp "peep" calls as well. I captured this one sitting in a Walnut tree not far from the nest.

This is an Eastern Phoebe that I captured in the Walnut tree in the backyard. It has built a nest above one of the windows in the back of the house. Their call sounds like the name "Phoebe" which is how they got their name. I loved the bokeh in this image. It would have made a great Friday image but bokeh is good any day too! :-)

I have a Phoebe that is nesting above a window in the back of the house. It likes to sit on a pole I had an LED solar light on. I was able to capture this shot of it the other day. Posting this image today because Fridays are also about the bokeh and this one had some great bokeh for a background.

My image today is another of the little bird that I was watching swoop and get worms out of the grass. I found out with some help of a couple of birders over on G+ that this is most likely an Eastern Phoebe. It was fun to watch and pretty tolerant of me.

Another hot one today and then hopefully cooling off a bit. My image today is of a bird I was able to watch and photograph late last week. It was sitting in the branches of the Sycamore tree and would swoop down towards the grass. At one point it came back up with a worm which it ate. I am not sure of the type and also posted it to G+ with all the birders there, hopefully someone has an ID. It looked like a Flycatcher in my book but not sure if they eat worms as well. Anyway, it was very neat to watch and did not seem to mind at all that I was there taking photos of it.
