It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog!  Today's flower is the Catclaw Sensitive Briar.  It usually blooms May through September and is in the Bean family.  The leaflets are sensitive to touch and if you run your finger down the middle, they will quickly close up.  It's quite cool to see.

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog!  Today's flower is an interesting one.  This is Catclaw Sensitive Briar and it usually blooms May through September.  I love the pom pom type blooms of it.  These are in the Bean Family.  They are interesting in that you can run your finger along a leaf stem and the leaves will fold together.  It is actually a nutritious plant for livestock as well.

It's Wildflower Wednesday here on the Blog once again!  The year is going so quickly.  This flower is enjoying a good year as it is very abundant in my area.  This is Catclaw Sensitive Briar.  I love it's puffball blooms.  The name comes from the claw-like barbs on the stem and the fact that the leaves fold up if you run your finger along them.  It's pretty cool to experience.  They usually bloom May through September.
