 I have American Bittersweet growing wild in my yard.  People use the berries as decoration fairly often.  They keep their color when dry so they work well in wreaths or floral arrangements.  They are even more interesting when they pop open after a hard frost.  This was obviously taken before that happened.  On the White Wildflowers By Color page on this Blog, you can see what the flower looks like as I was finally able to capture a shot of them.

I tried growing strawberries again this year.  I bought a container variety and they seem to be doing very well especially lately.  I liked this image as it showed the flower along with the berries in various states of maturing.

I was in St Joseph Missouri for Thanksgiving.  My in-laws have a lovely Hawthorn tree which gets these red berries that the birds and squirrels seem to love.  There weren't many left but I managed to capture this male Cardinal sitting among the berries looking rather picturesque.

I am sharing some more leaves and bokeh today.  These are what I think is, Wild Honeysuckle leaves and berries.  They grow wild in many areas and the berries give nice color.  I believe the type of Honeysuckle is Amur due to the pointed leaf tip shape.  I liked the lovely colorful autumn bokeh behind them, set off the green leaves nicely.

Finally had a chance for rain yesterday and just got drizzle for a short while.  Sigh  This is an older shot in winter when we had some snow.  These are husks of Bitttersweet, the berries are gone, most likely eaten by birds.  The husk pops open when temps fall below freezing.  I like how these provide pops of color during an otherwise dull winter.

This is an image I have had around for a bit.  If I knew what these berries were when I originally took the photo I have forgotten.  If anyone knows that would be great if you leave me a comment with an ID.  I just liked the circle shapes on the bottom of each berry and thought they made for an interesting subject.
