6/5/23

Happy Monday!  I am starting off the week with butterflies.  I had an amazing experience on Saturday in Lawrence Kansas.  There was a huge swarm of Hackberry Emperor butterflies at the Kansas University Field Station area.  They were everywhere and you could hardly walk or take photos because they were all over you as well.  This is a photo of just a minute portion of them at the entrance to a path in the woods.

I took some video of them and one of them can be found at this link on YouTube.  Hackberry Swarm  It was a very cool experience.

  1. That is a horde of butterflies. I suspect there was a horde of insect eating birds after them?

    1. You would think so but I did not notice any birds except one turkey in the area while we were there.
