4/2/22

This is another of the test shots I did with my new camera update.  This is a stacked image of the Pleiades constellation, also known as the 7 Sisters.  I took 4 images and stacked them together to get a clearer image without so much "noise" that results in low light images.  I shot this with my 300mm at 40 seconds each image at F11 and 800 ISO.  When viewed large you can see rays coming off the larger stars so I was pretty pleased with how this turned out.

  2. Neat.

Sure like to know how you/the camera can take a 40 second shot with no star movement.

    1. Thanks Jim! I have a Pentax K3 III. The firmware was updated to allow this. So basically, you focus on what you want to capture. Using the Bulb setting you set how long you want to capture which can be up to 10 minutes. When you press the shutter button, it takes a pre-shot of 30 seconds which it uses to compute the star movement (I am guessing that's what it is doing) then it shoots your image how you set it, then it does some more computation and then you get your image. To take a 40 second image took between 2 and 3 minutes. It's cool to be able to do these without having to worry about GPS and have them turn out so well.
